Ok Guys.

Hoping someone could help me out with this one.

I've done a google search, and can't really come up with anything solid.

We all know and love the old 4Runner clinometer. BUT, you also know I like to go against the norm.

On to my question......

Anyone happen to know what voltage SMALL aircraft run on? SMALL like a Cesna?

Yes. You read right. I want to know what voltage Small aircraft run on.

I'm thinking of making my own little guage thingy. Looking at most of the gauges, they run anywhere between 1.5-2" tall.

Personally, I think that would be :girl:. If only I could find a place to make different guage covers for the speedo and such.... WAIT!! THERE ARE PLACES!!!

Honestly, if I could find a way to make the cab look more like a fighter, that would be awesome.

Speedo, fuel, elevation.

Too bad they don't make HUDs for cars.

NOW THAT would be AWESOME!!!!

SO yeah. If someone happens to know what the voltage would be, please let me know....

I believe it's 14.2 for the alternator and 12 for the battery so you should be good.

The regulated voltage (14.2) to the system bus is somewhat higher than the battery voltage (12 volts) so that alternator current flows to the battery to charge it. If the regulated output were, say, only 11 volts, battery current would flow to the bus instead, eventually discharging it. So to keep a full charge, the regulator must clamp at something greater than 12 volts, but not so high as to boil the battery or damage onboard electrical equipment. Thus, 14.2 volts (+/- .4 volts) is the industry standard for charging systems using 12-volt batteries.

all c5 z06 corvettes and up come standard with it.
there are also iphone apps that do something similar.

Yeah, but what are the possibilities of transferring it to a Toyota?

iPhone...Nah. I have the speedo app that does it, but it's hard to mount it somewhere on the dash or steering column, not to mention that you can't see it when it's light out.

That's awesome news. Now to just find a aircraft salvage yard around here somewhere......

It is not standard, it is an option. The actual HUD unit isn't the expensive part, it's the windshield that is required to see the reflection that is huge $$. A lot of the early 2000's Pontiac Grand Prix GTP's and the later GXP's have them too. You can even find them in the Bonneville's and stuff. If you install a GM HUD unit in a car without the corresponding windshield, you will not be able to see the display. Trust me.

ok i was wrong its 2002 and up as a standard feature. but ya good luck transferring it.

2002 - Electron Blue replaces Navy and a CD player is now standard on all models while the Magnesium wheels are no longer offered. ZO6s get a larger front anti-sway bar, new rear dampers, and a stiffened rear leaf spring for its FE4 suspension, a revised camshaft profile, and other subtle changes inside the LS6 help it make 405 horsepower in the ZO6 for its sophomore year. Fender badges are adjusted accordingly and HUD is standard on the baddest C5 yet. Production was still strong and without any special editions, more ZO6s are cranked out to meet demand.

I remember some early 2000's Volvo's had a HUD that was on the back of the dash that displayed on windshield. Was great once I got used to driving it.
