hey guys! merry ho ho!, so Im trying to figure out what a few of these wires are? when i bought the truck they were already unhooked so If anyone can help identify them thad b swell

What year is your vehicle? My 87 does not have the ground wire. Where your ground wire is attached to the fender well, I have a power steering fluid reservoir. In the next set of photos, the white connector (single wire) goes directly to my AC compressor. I don't have the black connector tee (two wires). I don't know about the wires (black and red) in your tailgate, but would guess them to be defogger. Looks like those wires are 16 or 14 gauge which is about right for the defogger (it has a 15A fuse).
 
are you sure you dont have the ground wire in the first photo? it is on the drivers side, my power steering fluid is on the passenger side. The power steering fluid should be on the pass side on yours too unless of course you have a 22re or a right hand drive hilux...hmmmm to clarify my rig is an 88' t4r sr5 V6, thanks for your help!
 
The '87 was I believe the first year with the V6 option. You will find that the vast majority of people here have the 22RE engine, and that may be why answers are a little harder to come by...

That last one I believe is a security wire for the tailgate. The tailgate has a number of different security wires so that when the tailgate is open you can't open the window. Those particular wires I think should be connected to the "locks" that lock the tailgate into place when it's closed. If either one of them are not fully in place (or the mechanism is faulty) it will not allow the window to go up or down. The only way to get around these safety features so that you can still use your rear door properly is to make a new relay system, which is what I have done, and that's is a different topic all together.
 
thanks guys I must say it is nice to be a part of the 4x4 community particularly t4r I have some other cars 85 mr2 the forum members are snobby and not helpful at all, Cheers to you all! Stinger: do you have any info on the new relays u installed? did u bypass all the security features? this is what id like to do as well Im smart enough not to open the window when the tailgate is open...
 
ok so Ive come to the conclusion that my best bet is to just run directly from the battery to a 3 way switch to the window motor its a hack job but as long as it works will i need a resistor as well? I know I'll need an inline fuse for the +?
 
BTW, I don't have a rear window wiring diagram handy right now, but I think you want to use a DPDT momentary-contact center-OFF switch.
 
I was gonna go with one of those metal dip switch thingiez with the 3 positions up/down/off if this is what u mean?
p.s. I would like to see some pics of your truck can any be found in the pics section?

My brother in law was the person that made the "relay circuit" for me so I'll ask him what he used. And yes he did bypass every security feature in the door, the only downside is I can't use the key to open the window from the hatch, only the switch on the center console, but that doesn't worry me.
