Idle drive speed -- join the survey!

Can y'all do a test for me on your 4runners?

When the truck is completely warmed up, and the rpm's are at "normal" (~700), let the truck "idle-drive" on it's own...say from a stop sign.

I'm asking to see if the behavior of mine is normal. When I release the brake at a stop sign, the truck barely moves. In all of my other automatic cars I've owned, idle will take the car to at least 2-3 mph. My VW Passat will go about 5mph on idle speed.

Lemme know whatcha get! Oh yeah, please test on level ground on smooth pavement if possible.

Also try it in reverse if you think about it.

My 4Runner easily coasts on a flat and smooth surface after letting off the brake from a stop. Sounds like your e break might be stuck or out of alignment

i have a 5spd if i do it right i can get it to idle along about 5mph

I had the same problem before and it is most likely the lever on the back of your drum for the ebrake. If u go under the truck from behind you can see it and if it isnt pivoted against the drum than that is your problem. You can take it off by hitting it with a hammer. If you lube it up a work it some it should start working again.
