idler pulley question

95 toyota 4 runner sr5

so........ upon opening the timing belt cover i discovered that idler pulley did not have a spring or spring mounts or brackets like i was expecting. the pulley does nit even look like its supposed to. at least not like it says in the manuel.

is this factory? how does the idles keep tension on the belt?

93-95 engines use a hydraulic tensioner that bolts to the block and pushes against that idler to maintain tension on the timing belt.
