Idling Problems after Throttle Body Cleaning

I just cleaned the throttle body on my '92 3VZE attempting to fix a sticky throttle. It didn't work, but it did cause the engine to idle at about 1800 rpm. Anyone have any ideas? Rather annoying.

On another note -- the throttle itself. I took the throttle cable out of the throttle body to lube it, but it moved so easily and freely in the sheathing that I decided to leave it alone. In addition, when the throttle was held open manually, the accelerator moved with ease.

Many people on this forum seem to have the same sticky throttle problem, and I can't help wonder if it the pedal pressure is just a normal thing. My throttle body is now clean as a whistle and the throttle cable slides with ease and I still have a hard pedal to press.

My throttle cable works fine , too,, when I have it disengaged from the bellcrank on the throttle body. The trouble comes in when the cable 'is' attached and the cable is under tension against the throttle body return springs. That tension causes friction between the cable, itself, and the interior of the cable housing. You'll note that on the 3VZE the, the cable /housing makes a complete turn across the top of the intake plenum before making another turn down thru the firewall. Over the years, the plastic sheathing on both the cable and the inside of the housing wear against one another. It's likely that most of these older 4runners have cables and/or hoursings that are just plain worn out. I'm still trying to nurse mine along.
