I have mine up for sale for $5500... considering how much nicer it is over everything out there, I feel it's fair. $2k isn't too bad for that.

Not bad but still over blue book.... not sure what got typed in to come up with the price he got seems a bit off to me.
not to mention that there is no paperwork or data on the supposed new motor.
either way, it looks to have some life left in it, might help some one out.
 
What a weirdo. "Pay me $2000 or I'll donate it and make maybe a hundred or so on my tax return". It's like he thinks he's holding it hostage or something.
 
KBB values don't mean much around the PNW when it comes to Toyotas. Everything is above KBB.

Just drove an auto 3.0 saturday. Reminds me how far toyota has came since those dark days.

It can almost get out of its own way if you just let it shift above 4k every time. Damn thing won't even move if you try some under 3k driving.

The a340 series transmissions all suck slimy goat butt, no matter what engine they're in front of. Our '99 has the a340 behind a 3.4, 4.30 diffs with 32s, and it's a slug. It's horrible. I loathe it with the fiery burning heat of a thousand hot suns of fiery burning loathing. They are horrible horrible horrible transmissions, suitable only for throwing off a cliff. If I were going to the effort of a 3.0 to 3.4 swap in an automatic truck, I'd go the extra mile and swap in 5 speed too.
 
Not quite a classic. I know 2nd gens want to be like 1st gens so bad, but they have one more year to be complete :p

They'll never reach classic status. They will merely get old. In the same way that I don't hear of an '89 Nissan Pathfinder being a classic. Just old.

Just trying to put it in the right spot

this is another classic example of the toyota tax at work...

Drove my 3 slow runner today round trip bout sixty miles
damnnnnn always a bit of a shock getting it that form my 2.7 five speed taco regular cab
the t4r makes that thing look like a jet...
the runner is the lady's rig so I dont get to drive it much but it just keeps going and going ....
and cheaper then a payment

I'm not a huge fan of them, and I won't consider a 4th gen with one, but they're not the worst thing ever, right? Behind a 3.0 they are ridiculously power-robbing. Every auto 3.4 i've driven felt fine on power. Buddies' 4.7 Tundra does fine with it (probably has to do with the power itself!)

I still have never had the pleasure of driving an automatic twenty-two-RE.
