If there was ever a time for the runner to jack up...

It was today, while I was at the dealer. The 2 major problems I took the 4runner in for today failed to materialize for the dealer's service department...and they weren't lying cause everything was working perfectly on my drive up there. My AC a majority of the time blows warm air even at the low temps like 67 or 85, and mildly warm at 65!!! I'm starting to think its just because the temps are in the high 30's but still...it shouldn't be WARM air. Anyway, the whole drive up to the dealer the AC Was working freaking awesome. And the second main problem was a rattle in my trunk. I guess the Folsom's streets are way nice cause I didn't hear a peep while driving through their town. But tonight I go to jack in the box and my AC starts blowing warm air again, and you'd think I have a sub in the back from the rattle I'm getting.

Still, I was impressed with the service at the dealership... and they charged me a lot less than what they quoted...but I really wish the problems had shown up to diagnose and fix.

man, there is almost nothing worse than an unidentifiable sqeak in your car!! that will drive me nuts until I find it.

Taking the car to the dealer for a rattle is always a tough one. They almost always will come back with a "could not duplicate" and its a hard one to argue. What I do is have a friend or someone drive while I sit in the back and start searching. Once(or if) I find it i jam something between the plastic rattling. Good luck.

Put your HVAC system in AUTO and set the temp to LOW. It should blow cold. Then bring the temp up to 68 and see if it levels out after a few minutes. One simple check is the cabin temp sensor located just below the igintion switch. It looks like a small vent. You will need to remove the lower panel to access it. The sensor can become dislodged, causing some minor temp problems.

As for the rear rattle, have you checked the seat back latches and strikers? This is the most common rattle in our trucks. Drive around with the seats folded down, see if it goes away. If it does, the striker will require a minor adjustment. Report back and I'll post how to adjust it.
