What would it be? Keep it simple, just one item, option, or system and why. Eg. X-Reas on a sport because I want a big lift.


My vote would have been the entire ATRAC/VSC system. I realize it is the safest bet for the general populus, but it is simply too restrictive for the minority that actually know how to drive their own vehicles. If the system had a button to completely disable its features on demand, I would have loved it. Leave it on during normal driving on wet/dry pavement "just in case," and then turn it off for logging roads and around town snow. But it doesn't, so I would sh!t can the whole thing if possible.

The carpet.
I wish the carpet was made to be easily removed or something. My deep rubber floor mats are good but they're only there because I have carpet to protect. Maybe I'll rip it all out in about 10 years....

Although Diff. lock disables the VSC

Yup, I am with you guys, would not hurt to have the vehicle stance sitting up a little higher (an inch or two), and a way to get loose when you want to play by turning off all of the driving computers...

Uhhh, I thought the point of the thread was what feature would you not have on a 4Runner?

For me, it'd be the fog lamps. They do nothing for me... Or maybe the double decker cargo thingy...
 
ATRAC! I am so impressed that it improves an open diff so much.

(VSC sucks becasue it kills agressive cornering)
 
Remove the extra washer setting (counter-clockwise) on the rear wiper or tie it to an intermitent wipe.
I know it's petty but this vehicle is almost perfect. No major flaws. I'll take the safety features over the annoyance factor and learn to adapt. Just like the seat, I originally bitched about the comfort but now I don't even give it a second thought.
 
The uphill assist. What a joke. The only thing remotely useful about it is that darn beeping sound telling you, "umm...hey...you're like rolling back while in Drive so let me kind of stop you but not really." I'll stick to my old school inner ear and left foot/brake if I don't want my truck to roll back on my driveway.
 
TPMS! I was seriously considering getting an extra set of wheels with snow tires, but after thinking about all of the nonsense and cost associated with the TPMS, I just scrapped the idea.

Also, two weeks ago the TPMS warning light came on, so I had to drop the spare to add a few pounds of air. I guess the cold weather dropped the pressure by a few pounds. I put over 40 lbs. in the spare, so hopefully it will last for a while.

And now the thought of getting new tires brings the added worry about whether the tech who mounts and balances the tires will be extra careful not to break the sensors, which would probably run over $200 each for the sensor and programming at the dealer. Too much of a pain in the arse for not much benefit.

I guess we can thank Ford and the Explorer for this crap.

Mines got a mind's of its own. At first I thought maybe setting the temp lower than outside temp causes it to auto recirculate, but this weekend I've tried with it on "Lo" and outside temp is 60F, at 68 with outside temp at 64F--still recirculated both times. On mine it just comes on when it pleases.

I agree. Hate it. Makes me wanna punch something.

Another thing I'd like to can... the front bumper. Granted, the car might look silly without one, but the factory bumper is bleedin' huge and makes the car look like some bloated lump. Gimme something that sticks out a little less.

However, I mostly want to add something to the truck... from small things like lighted window controls to large things like an optional 5/6-speed manual tranny.
 
Like Mark the HVAC system especially the auto recirculation button. I was in my Truck this afternoon when its been sitting in the sun and its 84F inside and 63F outside and the recirc is on automatically without the AC and the auto set for 70F :wtf:
