I would not have bought a silver vehicle. It shows dirt and scratches more so than I thought it would and doesn't really pop when you wax it like a darker colored vehicle.

I'd look harder at the white/silver. Scratches are so much harder to hide in the darker colors.

I dont like white cars, so decided on silver. LOL. Some people don't like silver cause you can't get the bright shine like a darker color.

There's a youtube video dedicated to showing how silver can reflect / shine just as well, it's all in the buffering and waxing.

I personally would get a TEP. But there weren't any around at the time I needed to move across the country.

This is hands down, IMHO, the best, cleanest 4runner build I have seen. Sleak. The silver color with black....damn... the perfect balance of classy and rugged without showmanship. The slight upgrades in valances. The perfect lift and sliders that fit snug up against the body.

Bravo to these guys. I'm close to this. But would probably have chosen to just get the 3" upgrade right away with 33"s vs the 31s and Bilstein 5100s. I don't know...maybe a Trail Premium as well...but I did buy my sr5 for 29K.

I’d really like to know what center caps, decals, stickers, etc. they use on those Fn wheels. They look bigger than the ones sold by the importwhatever guys and it’s makes a big difference on those wheels imo. Maybe it’s just the angle making them look larger? Maybe they cut their own vinyl? Either way, it looks like a proper center cap imo and, while subtle, it really adds to the overall look of the truck and the fn wheels

I'd have bought a PRO and left the thing like it came from the factory.

I got the fever and added a slimline and a winch and now I'm having to do front suspension because the little bit of extra weight. I had other plans before I did the winch/bumper, now I think I'll just leave it alone.

I wouldnt have bought a 5th gen in the first place. I would have stuck with my 4th gen. If I had to get rid of my 4th gen for whatever reason, I would have gone with a 20?? Explorer or the brand new Durango.

i had the exact same question. I think they took one of the silver / red center caps and painted the silver part black....not sure though.

the 4runner is amazing cause of that 8 inch rim. Looks so much better IMO.

You're lift looks ideal to me. It's not offensively high and looks stock. I like the 1-2 inch. Just like my girlfriend....

It gets bad gas mileage now, it's not as comfy to drive, I am afraid to leave it anywhere because I am paranoid shit will get stolen. Because of those reasons my GF and I don't take it anywhere - like going into Seattle or Portland for the weekend for a show or something. Would never take it backpacking because of all the trailhead break-ins around here. Probably annoys her we always have to take her rig. Plus spent a ton of money that I could have saved.

Agree with most of this, minus the paranoia of break-ins but it's probably because of where I live. Having a lift/bigger tires looks more great and all but MPG definitely suffers the most (I went from 20 to 15mpg) as well as short garage clearances (minimum 6'4") downtown. Ride quality will improve though compared to the junk OEM shocks if you buy quality replacements but that also depends on your wheel/tire combo. Time & money for all the mods can get quite excessive as well.

Maybe I'm getting older/wiser but my next 4R (2019 ORP) will only be getting the front leveled with 5100s (front/rear) and a set 265/70r17 KO2s on stock OR wheels. Just my .02

Nothing. Keep my Cement Pro which is stock! No need for suspension, my color both shines when waxed, doesn’t ever look dirty when clean.

Live in the City located in the southern most part of California. I’ve seen maybe 1 or 2 others. Who knows probably the same one.

I tried to buy a off road but the dealers here just want to %}^* you! So I did what everyone in this city should do. Never buy from the local dealer.

That motivated me to obtain the pro. How? I called a bunch of dealers in the middle of the country. Inquired, made sure to be polite, and made sure they grabbed a piece of paper to take my name and #. Not a “ Okay thanks for informing me you don’t/ can’t get one”

1 month later I got a call from a dealer in Minnesota. Said we have one incoming and would I be interested. I asked to have a conference call with the salesman and manager. Then asked price. Got it for MSRP.

So no BS from local dealers like “ market adjustment bend over as I well you know”. Trust me the Minnesota guys were probably dumbfounded that I would fly to them and pay sticker.

2 weeks later it arrives, next day fly up, take 2 1/2 hour shuttle, spend the night pick up in AM. No additional sales B.S. One of the mechanics picked me up from the hotel asked why I was here from SoCal , I said business. He later came up to me at the dealer and said laughing “that was good business!”

Had them keep the white transport wrap, plastic on seats and no detail! Out of the dealer in an hour because the news said baseball sized hail and storms throughout the Midwest!

Nervous and excited, I drove way and stopped at the closest NAPA. Bought the best carnuba wax they had and slathered all of it all over my car allowing a thickish film to dry on the areas not covered with wrap.

Now fully shielded with a force field a reverse storm Chase was on!!

Thankfully the entune as bad as it is had the weather channel app with radar. I plotted to run behind all the storms from Northern Minnesota down to Austin where I was going to see my sister!

Man oh man, all I thought was I’m Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz driving into Kansas confronting the tornado. Which I basically did!!

The original plan was to drive and see the country. Nope I was in a war versus Mother Nature armed with a TRD pro!!

No hotels and basically nonstop driving/ battling the Bible Belt and it’s fury down to Austin where I was going to stay with my sister, then drive to SoCal.

She now named “ BAT”- Bas Ass Truck. Faithfully delivered me through gods wrath and I never once thought not to give her anything except high octane premium!!!

Left Austin and drove west to New Mexico where I again slept in the back just outside white sands!! Woke up, drove through white sands national park( pictures of course) then through Pheonix where yet again I battled with Mother Nature. This time in the form of 120’ heat and dust devils!

Told myself and then yelled out “ you think your as bad ass as your bigger brothers in Kansas” well I got something for you. Me and a TRD pro!!

Few hours later I’m through AZ and down the backside of California to the Sand Dunes just North of the salton sea. Can almost smell dinner cooking since I’m so close to home.

Pull in to my place in San Diego, casually step out of the truck which was my home for 3 days, pinched myself to make sure it wasn’t a dream, and yelled out “ So That’s what life is with a 4Runner” %*#* Yea!!!

So trust me, no mods needed and I wouldn’t change anything!

This is overblown IMHO. The few thousand ($3-15K) that most people spend on mods would have very little impact on your wealth growth potential in the grand scheme of things. If those mods are allowing you to further enjoy your travels/hobbies and create memories and experiences you otherwise wouldn't have had, then that is a valid investment unto itself.

Now, in your particular case, where you mentioned not using it out of fear of theft and damage, then I would likely sell it and move on to whatever might provide you the same capabilities but with less emotional attachment. Maybe get a Subaru?!

At the end of the day, it's just a vehicle and a somewhat easily replaceable one at that. You have insurance for a reason, get out there and start using and enjoying your 4Runner. If you feel people in your area are big enough shit bags to create a valid fear then maybe consider moving? I am in no way judging you personally, just simply responding to your statements. And btw, I am all for a stock or lightly modified rig, they do 90% of everything out there very well in a stock configuration.

If I may be so bold, I would highly recommend the 6112/5160 combo over the 5100's. I've had both, the 6112/5160's are much nicer. Otherwise, good on ya.
