Interesting that many people choose a non-4WD vehicle. Isn't that why we have 4runners? I guess many people don't use them for off road. I have a Nissan Leaf for city driving, it is my DD. If I didn't have my 4runner I'd definitely have another 4x4 of some type.

Agreed, I'm talking strictly 4x4, I have an 09 Accord EX-L Coupe as a DD.

Very true, Hagerty says they're one of the top 10 models expected to skyrocket in value in the near future, get them while you can. Imperial jade is just soooo damn sexy. Very soon, mine will be getting a fresh coat of IJM.

I've liked these things for a while; fully functional and off road ready. Other than that a GX460 to build up similar to below.

There isn't a direct replacement I'd be even remotely interested in. I have absolutely zero interest in xterras, pathfinders, land rover discovery, etc. I could be happy with an e46 wagon, l322 rover, second or third gen tacoma, old lx/gx470 with some mods.. None of these are really in the same segment as a 4runner but 4runners are really the only car of their type that I like. I'd say, though, if I was to get the most similar replacement I'd go for an old lx470 with mods.

I've always loved the TSX wagon. I think part of the reason why the wagon didn't do well was one, americans hate wagons, and two, Acura really has just become a strange company that lost its image. Back in the '90s, there was a clear distinction between an Acura and Honda when it came to the the build quality and materials used, which is precisely what a luxury brand should be. Now, Honda and Acura seem just separate by name. I've driven later model Acuras and they all share a build that seemed like it was rushed in the assembly plant, with hard plastics, cheap carpet and strange body designs.

It's funny you say that. My mom bought a brand new ILX last year. I drove it the other day and couldn't believe I was sitting in an Acura. The inside build felt so cheap and it drove like sh*t. I'm in the process of trying to convince her to check out both the IS300 and the new Camry. We'll see.

And it's really a Honda Accord. At least everywhere else around the world. And you could get it with a friggin' diesel! I wish this country was more of an estate car country instead of a monster SUV one. Oh well...

For me, either a Tacoma or Tundra since I’ve been wanting a truck for a while. If not the trucks, the new Camry is looking nice also.

If going with a different brand, I’ve always been partial to Mazda. I like the new Mazda 6 sedan and coupe. The only downside is no V6 models. As for my midlife crisis vehicle, I’ve always been partial to these two growing up.

To replace my 4runner I'd want another truck. I'd like an LX450, but would settle for a 470.

I'd definitely consider a trooper if one came up.

G wagen looks great, but I'd think my budget would be the same for this scenario, so it would be tough to find a good one with a 4runner budget.

I've always liked the styling of the Mazda 6 after they changed the badging from the old 626 to the new 6. I wish Mazda still made the Speed6. That was a gorgeous vehicle.
