The more I learn about 4WD's the more I realise how screwed over we are in N America. 4runners are fun, but they aren't reliable overland vehicles, they aren't made for that. At least in Canada we have the 15 year old rule, not 25. Look what they have for sale in Gibraltar. The ultimate 4WD truck. Fully manual, roll up windows, 1HZ engine.

Since my 4R is not my DD and is my "beater", I'd probably get a land cruiser. If I didn't want to spend a bunch of money, I'd buy another ZJ.

I spent $600 bucks for my 95zj and it was one of the most reliable vehicles I've owned. 8 years later I sold it for $600. A couple weeks ago I saw it for sale again with 312k miles on it and it still runs good.

Probably a 2001-present tacoma 4wd trd 3" lift and 33s. Or any year tundra trd 4wd 3" lift 35s

Realistically speaking I'd probably just stick with my good ole reliable Ford Ranger. (Still have it actually, 400K miles and still going strong).

Stupid cheap and easy to fix, good aftermarket. Just wish they made a true 4door in the USA...

Taco/Tundra/Newer F150/Landcruiser would also come into mind...

Yes, we were talking about them in another thread.
I seemed to be one of the few that was keen on them.
06-07 with low miles looks to be a steal compared to other Yota's
Cheaper than a V8 4th gen T4R, Tundra & Taco & more interior room than a LC. Rust is becoming an annoying battle on my T4R so I might p/u a Sequoia as a winter beater & keep the 3rd gen as a spring-summer-fall vehicle.

I see the only downside to the Sequoia would be gas mileage, especially after building one. Hey, who cares though! V8, 4wd what is not to love?

4.2 liter, 6-cyl, N/A diesel. 5 speed! Lockers F & R.

Torque peak is at 2200 rpm. Not much higher than a cold 5VZ-FE's idle.

Note also the 130 liter fuel tank. In freedom units, that's over 34 gallons.
