The sad fact is and always has been that a certain percentage of people feel more comfortable when they don't have to make decisions. They like someone in charge of their lives. It seems easier to them and to some degree it probably is.
We faced the same argument for the revolutionary war. "It's not that bad" "let's just ask them to stop the high taxes" "it will probably get better". This is one form of mindset for this kind of thinking. I am not saying this applies to all the citizens that are ok with today's politics. But it definitely applies to a percentage of them on both sides of the aisle.
Keep trying to wake people up. It does happen on occasion and it feels great when you successfully achieve that.
You come off as well written and non-belittling compared to most trying to make the case. Well done.

for lying, and obstruction. not found guilty, the same way his wife wasn't found guilty?
and now his wife, who has lied many times, is running for the same position. there are far too many ignorant/uninformed people that want that to happen.

I have been asked now by two mods why we let this type of thread continue when they are nothing but trouble, both for the mod and for the poster. I have issued more infractions and bans from these measly threads than I have in all the other forums.
This thread is typical of all political threads. You have two camps and both want to prove their camp is the best camp. After reading this thread this is not going to happen.
Now, there are only about 10 people (out of thousands of members) participating in this topic. I have asked in the past the worth of discussing these topics and the only decent answer is you are "learning something." I have let these threads go and even participated in them hoping they could be civil. The civility is now there (even though it is thinly veiled) but the discussion is not. It is just regurgitated opinion that was learned from the web. Frankly I am tired of warning and issuing infractions and banning over this topic. I am closing this thread (I started it so I can close or delete it even without me being a mod) and will lock any new political or religious threads here that I see. Yes, many current events are political but, for example, you can talk about a riot in Charlotte without using politics or religion. If you do there will be infractions and then bans.
If you do not agree with this, fine. PM another mod or admin. If you get a majority of mods to go along with posting about politics and religion then great, I will go along with it too. Good luck with that.
