I need to talk to your bank. I'm in the hunt for a 2020 ORP in Barcelona Red w/KDSS and sliding cargo tray NO moonroof.
Dealer 1 tells me they're ordering it from Japan. They assure me they have initial approval (as of late October), but now contact me every week to indicate they haven't yet been given "final approval".
In early November, they got a 2020 ORP in BR with no moonroof. But no KDSS, either. Salesman thought maybe all ORPs came with KDSS. They don't.
Dealer 2 never expressed an interest in ordering but sends me "pretty close" alerts from time to time. Had a line on one in BR w/KDSS no moonroof. But tarted up with useless extras and no sliding cargo tray. I passed. They may have given up on me in exasperation.
But a bank? How can they be more dialed in than dealerships? I get that every part of my filtering puts a severe strain on my search. KDSS? Okay. No moonroof? Results drop to a handful. Barcelona Red? 0. Don't even think about that sliding cargo tray!
Where are you searching? I use the buyatoyota site:

But it doesn’t let me search NOT moonroof. Of course all of the results have moonroof.

haha had that issue too. Could be harder to find the red with those options though. I went with the white. My bank partners with Autoland for their car stuff. Maybe check them out? They found the 4runner I was looking for while it was in transit across the ocean lol
For my region, I can drive the results to zero if I choose 2020 ORP in Barcelona Red.
Zero.
Of those zero, I can't even request KDSS and sliding deck, let alone winnow it down to those w/o moonroof. Because it's already zero.:Cry:

I purchased the same ORP without a moonroof in October. I didnt want KDSS because I had already planned on upgrading the suspension with a King/JBA suspension. Not sure if I just got lucky but when I went to the dealer and told them what I wanted, they had the exact one I wanted on the lot. Had just arrived that morning.
Couldn't be happier with the King/JBA suspension btw.
I think I'll end up going this route. Base Premium without Moonroof sounds like a far more common build that Base Premium with KDSS and no Moonroof. In fact there are few out there now in the other colors (White, Black and Silver) without moonroof but all have some optional bullshit like overpriced cables package or "clear paint protection."

Mine came with a crap ton of options as well that I didn't want also. Tube running boards, "clear paint protection" and a bunch of other crap that raised MSRP to $45.2k. I was able to negotiate down to $40.1k before TTL. Came out to about 12% off MSRP.

You guys know you can still lift with KDSS, right? Sure, you can't go long travel (which won't give you more lift), but were you going to do that to begin with?
TRD ORP w/ KDSS +3" front, +2" rear:
Pretty sure he knows that. His issue is that he wants an ORP with KDSS but without the moonroof. Seems to be a unicorn. The compromise is going to be a ORP without KDSS and without moonroof and just do an aftermarket suspension. Similar to what I did.

Oh wow. Maybe it's due to my lack of exposure but I've never seen a local unit (western Canada) without a sunroof. Possible that's only a thing in the US? Maybe just everybody locally orders their unit with a sunroof.
Either way, this was a life altering thread for me lol

every toyota lot i've been on, the majority of them did not have a sunroof.
I just had a conversation with a Toyota dealer that I bought a 2012 Corolla For my son earlier this year from and he went into the configurator that they use and was able to build a vehicle and said he can definitely order it.
Now we’re just discussing price. As configured the car that I want is 44 530 MSRP That’s including Destiination charges.
Invoice on that vehicle should be right around 42,000 and I know they charge about a $800 doc fee.
TTL on this vehicle with a new plate will be about $3000.
I told him if we could do an out the door price of just under 45,000 I could come in this weekend and put a deposit. Essentially I’m offering $800 under invoice or about 2% under invoice.
I got a few OTD quotes From local dealers on off-road premium’s with similar MSRP’s but different sets of options. My offer price is about $1200 more than the best one of those prices I got. But it gives me exactly what I want without having to shop around and deal with a bunch of different dealers and hopefully offers them enough profit that it’s worth it.
We’ll see what they say

For science purposes I use the buy a Toyota.com inventory site for the Southeast region and in my local ZIP Code area they were 366 2020 TRD off-road premium’s available for sale. 340 of them had moonroofs. 49 of them also had KDSS. Moonroofs are a very common option obviously but there are still plenty of them without.

yeah i meant overall among all 4runners on a new lot, not just the TRD's. Usually more SR5's than anything at the ones I've seen. but that's just more anecdotes and less science.
For SR5 premium’s it was 1040 out of 1165. So right about 10% don’t have moonroofs. That said there was 870 SR5 bases And since it’s not immediately obvious from the outside whether They are a premium or not it would be reasonable is only about half of the SR5 badge vehicles on the lot had a moonroof.
