Going in tomorrow to sign an order sheet. He said we could do a deal at the prices I listed. We’ll see. Now hopefully I get lucky and some great rebates/incentives hit when it shows up.

I have a 2017 TRD ORP w/KDSS and no Moonroof/sun roof. Solid roof , no hole.
Sliding cargo tray.

How it was acquired:
I had calls into a lot of dealers in So Cal and even out to Phoenix.
Was looking for a MGM or Silver ORP w/kdss . Most had Black, white or red.
Had some negotiations with some dealers fall through and then got a call from a northern San Diego dealership that had one so I went to take a look.
It was a special order for a Navy dude who got deployed and backed out of the deal (their story) so I was next on the list since it matched my color and options requested.
Previously, had a 3rd gen with a moon roof and only used it a few times and it leaked so I was kinda happy the 5th gen I was looking at didn't have one, plus already had plans for a full length rack.

During negotiations I texted the Phoenix dealer I had been speaking too and asked if he'd beat $41k for the silver one he had and said nope, he stood firm on $44 so I bought the MGM for $41 on the nose out the door.
I'm not saying it's the best price, just sharing info.

I just had a conversation with a Toyota dealer that I bought a 2012 Corolla For my son earlier this year from and he went into the configurator that they use and was able to build a vehicle and said he can definitely order it.

Now we’re just discussing price. As configured the car that I want is 44 530 MSRP That’s including Destiination charges.

Invoice on that vehicle should be right around 42,000 and I know they charge about a $800 doc fee.

TTL on this vehicle with a new plate will be about $3000.

I told him if we could do an out the door price of just under 45,000 I could come in this weekend and put a deposit. Essentially I’m offering $800 under invoice or about 2% under invoice.

I got a few OTD quotes From local dealers on off-road premium’s with similar MSRP’s but different sets of options. My offer price is about $1200 more than the best one of those prices I got. But it gives me exactly what I want without having to shop around and deal with a bunch of different dealers and hopefully offers them enough profit that it’s worth it.

We’ll see what they say

Well they took my offer and the vehicle is underway it’ll be 90 to 120 days before it arrives as their estimate. No worries I’m not in a hurry and it gives me time to acquire all my projects in advance.

Not too bad for a custom order. Funny thing is Toyota can ship you a full vehicle equal to or faster than Gobi can get a rack to your door. :bounce:

My local dealer found me a 2019 Nautical Blue ORP w/ KDSS no moonroof a few hundred miles away in Chicago---back in July. (no other options either...I didn't want running boards or anything.) They said they had a relationship with that particular dealer and/or region. Worked the deal for me.

I didn't find the toyota inventory site to be very helpful. Glad they could locate what I wanted. This is probably a time when inventory was higher than it is right now for the 2020 models.

I probably would have taken the moonroof if I had to; I just don't really like them that much.

This is my first T4R---I'm still giddy about the back window rolling down.
