IFS with 3" lift prob...

I have a 98' 4Runner SR5 4WD. A Revtek lift gave me the 3" lift. I have 285/75/R16 BF All Terrains. The kit came with diff. spacers, but I'm not sure if they are enough to take away from the angle inherent with the lift. My inboard CV boots keep spitting grease. One is torn, the other seems to be coming from the end of the boot where the clamp is. These have happend in the last 10 monts since the lift has been installed. Just curious if anyone has a fix for this, besides the obvious of taking the lift off...not going to happen. I am thinking of taking the measurements of the diff. spacers and having some buddies in a mill shop make me some just a tad more drastic. Any insight or help would be great!! Thanks...

If the pleats in the boots rub each other, the life will be severly reduced because of the grit/mud/crap that clings in the grooves, and all the 3 inchers I've seen rub like hell. There are obviously replacement boots available that cure that problem, but they come on the CV Unlimited shafts and are the shiznit. Still, my preference would be to swap the ADD stuff out to manual hubs AND run the CVU shafts, sorta like Shortruck.

here is 3" OME and 33" A/T's:

The reason the boot that isn't torn is leaking grease is the angle. This new angle only allows for about 1/2 the normal amount of grease to remain in the boots. For me (ome882 +trimpackers 3.5") i had severe leakage. i regresed the cvs w/jt-6 it is basically a RED high temp all purp. grease used in industrial bearing etc.

if you use a grease gun they have a needle fitting that allows you to just "poke" through the cv boot, pump grease, pull out and the hole is self sealing b/c the needle is so small.

Hope this will help you out.

Broncosi...

Where can I get these CVU shafts you speak of? Are they just a super upgrade for the stock shafts? Oh, nice runr too! I will post mine when I get some taken. Thanks for the info so far, look forward to more...
