Ignition cylinder help!

Okay, my 1st gen 4runner has 2 keys, (don't know why), one key opens the locks and fuel door, and the other the ignition. A local locksmith said he could rekey the cylinder to match the door locks. Problem is, I can't get the cylinder out. I've gone through the manual and taken everything off, the problem is I can't find the little retaining pin/hole. I've looked all over and can't find it, and the pic in the manual is a little less then helpful.

You took the housing off. Then Im pretty sure it is facing you on the aluminum barrel that the lock goes in.... It doesn't look like anything special.

Somebody clearly replaced the ignition switch at some point. I wish I could help you, but I've never removed it.

Sorry, it's taken me a while to get back to this, been busy. I've looked again, and right in front of the ignition cylinder housing is the windshield washer switch, I can see no release hole here. Is it behind the switch? Or am I missing something clearly obvious?

Its a tiny hole.
That (the red arrow is pointing at) little hole is about the size of the hole you seek. When my runner comes back from the shop I will take my cover off and tell you fer sure where it is on mine.

Have you tried the hole where the red arrow is? perhaps under the wiper control wires? If not give me a few days and I will take mine apart.

That seems to be just an indent in the housing, unless the PO filled it with something. Either way it's solid and I can't get through it. Thanks for the help, I'll keep looking myself and tell you if I find anything before you take yours apart.

edit: I got it. I had to take off the steering wheel and the switch holder, the button is behind it but it's out, and will be on the way to the locksmith shortly before work, good thing this isn't my daily driver.

There's an easier way to avoid removing steering wheel.

Next time just get some wafers & rekey it your self. (I pick up a door lock, trunk or 2 whenever im the wrecking yard & see a really new car). Only takes a few more minutes & its not hard to do. I have tons of spares just for this reason.
I'll be fixing mine soon, as the key is able to come out even when the truck is running.
