I think it should be noted that they only tested with 2008 model with has the side impact air bags as standard equipment. The Nissan still has them listed as optional. I think without the side impact air bags, the 4Runner's side crash test would be similar to Xterra/Pathfinder.

Maybe? How long has the 4Runner offered the side curtain air bags? I know my '05 has it as a option.

'04 - '07 the side air bags were optional, most Limited's had them as "standard equipment" with that package. In 2008 MY, all trim levels come with the side impact air bags as standard.

It does have side impact air bags. Look at the picture closely. 2008 MY only comes with side impact air bags, I don't think you can delete them.

I would not find the results credible if all vehicles were tested with side air bags and only the 4 Runner tested "poor".

I guess im screwed since i dont have side or head airbags....Ill just have to rely on my massive driving skill to get me out of those kinda situations.
