Hey folks
So about a month ago my 87 22RE has been experiencing a higher than normal idle RPMs. Usually I my truck will sit around the mid to high 900s RPM range.

Now, whenever i start the truck, the RPMs will sit where they should be. But the second I hit the gas, the RPMs sit around 1200-1500.

I replaced my throttle cable in early May.

Any thoughts?

Could be a vacuum leak or injector issue (or anything else), Really not sure as I never had this issue with my 22Re.
One way to test for a Vacuum leak is use a propane torch (off) and let the gas get sucked up by the vacuum lines. If the idle changes then it should point you in the right direction.
Have you done any other research on this forum or other forums?
Does the issue persist if you disconnect your throttle cable and then rev the engine directly from the TB?
Timing and idle is set by the distributor so I wouldn't think that would be the cause.
vacuum leak, leaky injector, Throttle Body, TPS are some things that I think off the bat
Do some research and get your hands in there to start diagnosing and let us know what you find.

Idle speed can be set with the adjustment screw on the throttle body. However, before you mess with it there's something holding the throttle open. Inspect the throttle valve itself to make sure it's not sticking or rubbing on the body housing. I had to drop a little bit of oil into the valve once since mine was sticking slightly open, causing high idle.

Also make sure your throttle cable is not gunked up and moves smoothly. Remove the rubber cap on the end and observe the cable move, a little bit of grease can help as well (careful though, if dust mixes with the grease it can make it worse).

If neither of those are the issue a vacuum leak is probably present.
