Im Baaaak, rear lift new Bilsteins

Hi All. Been a crazy couple months with work and kids graduating.

Finally got around to putting a 2.5 to 3" lift on the rear. New bilstein 5100s on the front with springs from a 2014 trail edition. for a front lift of about 2 to 2.5 in the front. levels it out nice. stiffened the ride just right.

easy question, do I need to have my alignment checked? first vehicle I have lifted.

and as a bragging note, the kid who graduated is now an engineer with Boeing in Everett Wa. and bought a 2018 4runner yesterday.

You should have the alignment checked. For your amusement, I was an engineer at Boeing in Everett for a short 38 years.

definitely; right away.

just as a heads up, if you were stock before and in spec with good front end components - you are probably now toe out, that can easily be dialed with the tie rods.

however, your now positive camber and loss of caster can be adjusted, but most likely your eccentric bolts will be frozen. just the way it goes. not easy to take them out and most likely will need a torch will then require new lower control arm bushings. hopefully not the case, but it seems that everyone has to fight these. right of passage to a proper lift.

which level do you have the 5100's set on? i have some 18 trail springs i'm about to do this with. did you use 4runner or tundra 5100's?

used the shocks for the 4runner, The 2nd from the bottom gave me a good 2 inches of lift. Had the origional front suspension so I dont know how much that is on stock. the top one may put you where you need a diff drop. looks pretty good with stock size tires, could probably go up a few sizes and still look good.
