with the ball joint spacer and add a leaf lift you can clear 33x12.50 but they will rub and you will have to re-gear both front and rear differentials

i just finished my lift on my 87. but ive been riding around on 33x10.5s and they are awesome. they dont scrub after beating back the pinch weld in the fenderwell

i had the 33s on before i put it on. but i put the 2'' bj spacers up front (sadly its IFS) and i threw some chevy 63'' leaf springs in the rear. my truck doesnt sit level but i think it could if i cranked the torsion bars all the way, but im not going to do that because im trying to save as many parts as possible... total i got about 5'' in the rear, and 2'' up front, and it sounds like it looks really goofy but its really not that noticeable by the untrained eye

If you raise the front a bit with some BJ spacers for example, 32's will be good, 33's will rub some. You could add a 1-2" Body Lift also to make more room.

if you go 12.50 they will rub. 10.50 they wont

buy slackers front fenders and they wont rub with 33x12.50 and just the 2.5 inch lift

That looks great! I currently run 31" tires on my 85, but that is the look I really like! I will be cutting out my rear wheel wells a little though.

You shouldn't have to cut anything, I have since replaced the add-a-leaf with OME 2" springs and t-bars. There is actually too much clearance in the rear now so I'm more than likely going to remove another leaf from the pack to lower it a little....too much rake for my tastes. My buddy put the complete front and rear 2" OME lift on his '85 and the 33/10's don't rub at all.
Don't ruin a gen 1 by cutting the fenders, keep it stock. Good luck man!

Did you weld a new piece there to replace the standard rust?? I was just going to cut the wells due to the rust and holes that are there.

Welding is great if you are able to. There are several ways to skin a cat. I have the same rust. I'm grinding the rust to clean metal, coating the bare metal with POR-15 and building up the patch from the back with fiberglass mat. Probably 3 to 4 layers of mat. I considered getting a welder and patch panels but I was reading about how the new panels often rust quickly at the welded seam. Also a lot of new welders (that would be me) end up warping th panel. After new fiberglass area's built up I'll do a final sculpt with Evercoat Rage. Less than 1/4" of filler. Also a lot of body shops now cut a patch panel and use panel adhesive instead of welding and then finish with body filler. With the 3M stuff they say the metal will rip before the panel adhesive gives up it's bond. I already have gallons of epoxy fiberglass and mat so the decision is made. Just waiting for some warmer weather...
