I'm excited, so I'm gonna post about it!

I was just messin around on craigslist seeing what was in my area and found a set of Daystar lift blocks for $60! I called the guy and agreed to drive about 45 min to meet him. I managed to get him down to $40. I am quite happy with that price and will be installing them monday after work. I am a tech (although not a toyota tech) and have a lift and tons of tools, so im hoping the install will only take about an hour or two.

My 4Runner is only 2wd, so I dont intend to do any major offroading with it. but I am moving up north and would like to run larger tires so I can at least play in the mud and snow a bit.

I would immagine the install is a bit easier on a 2wd since you dont have to worry about the front axles being in the way. I will post up pics after the install.

hahaha, guess my thread sucked. lol.

anyways, I got them installed today in about an hour and a half front and rear. had a buddy help with the intall. having a lift was a huge help. probably would have taken a lot longer in the driveway.

I will post up some pics when I take some tomorrow.

I just have one question to those that have done this before...
Did anyone else not reattatch the bracket for the brake lines and sensors up front? after the spacers went in, the hard lines for the brake lines prevented the bracket from lining up with the mounting holes. I havent read anything about this anywhere else, and just left them loose for now. they dont seem to move much since the brake lines are solid where they go into the calliper.

please feel free to chime in if anyone knows another way to mount them up.

after driving it a bit tonight, I didnt realize 2.5inches would feel that much different, but i love it!

Hey there,

I did mine last weekend myself, I had no problems putting the brackets back on for the brake lines up front. I only removed the retention brackets from the linkage and the upper control arm (and the X-REAS bracket to allow for a little more wiggle room), not the caliper section if that makes any sense.

Unsure what would cause those not to line up again unless you've caught the lines on something.

Congrats on the lift -- my truck is a 2WD also, and I never really take it "offroad" (for whatever definition of offroad a 2WD is capable of...), but I absolutely hated the rake from the factory. The lift gave it the perfect stance, and topping it off with some 265/70/17 tires made it look awesome. Not enough to be over-the-top as if I'm trying to pretend I have 4WD, but a nice aggressive stance.

I checked everything a few times over, but it just looks as though the struts are lower, therefor, the bracket for the brake lines and sensor wiring is up too hight to bolt back on. it doesnt really make sense to me, but it bothers me. ill figure it out sooner or later i suppose.

Yeah, I don't know either. The only thing that change orientation for me was the articulation of the lower control arm once I got everything bolted back into place.

Worst case scenario, science gave us heavy duty zip ties for a reason.

You should be able to "Gently" bend the hard lines enough to reattach them. I would not leave them that way. The hard line will take alot of abuse from the vibration of everyday driving. It will eventually break, more than likely at the connector on the caliper. You need the stain relief that bracket provides.

I have done that lift on 2 different vehicles, mine and another members, Both time I was able to reattach the brackets.

Thanks for the tip. I thought about trying to just bend the lines a little, but i didnt want to risk pinching or cracking the line at all. i rechecked today at work after driving it a bit since yesterday and its a little closer, so ill try to just "convince" it to go where it needs to be. Im goin on vacation for the rest of the week, but ill try that when I get back. I still need to get pics up too, but its been raining all afternoon, so i havent gotten any good ones yet.

So I finally got the truck back on the lift and resecured the brake lines. I was hesitant to bend them at all, but they survived. thanks again for the info.

I actually got the truck with them on it. I think they are OEM headlights cause they say "toyota" on the lenses, but with the clear side reflector I would immagine they are JDM? I dont really know. they do tend to leak when using a pressure washer, but it clears up in a day or two. They are starting to fade though, so I am thinking about picking up a set from ebay. a buddy from work got the black housing headlamps on ebay for his x-runner and quality looks great for the price.

thanks for the compliments. its a slow process, but its comming a long. I was just looking at some pics from when i bought it, and its come a good ways since. I cant leave anything stock for long. lol.

ride feels great, just need new tires. I dont really notice any more sway or roll from the daystar kit. I want to get some swaybar bushings and maybe some control arm bushings eventually, just to freshen it all up.

yea thats why i was asking, i traded my Xrunner for a 4runner.

Hey Soarer,

Just a thought, I added the same lift and put the wheel spacers on a few days later. It made the smallish tires look acceptable until you have the dineros to get new ones.

thanks for the tip. im not sure what size tire im going to go with so i may hold off on spacers for now. ill live with the way it looks as i plan to have new tires within the next month or two.
