I'm Glad They Don't Offer a Stripped Model

I think that all the trim models look great...If you were shopping for say a new explorer (which we were), in order to get one that looks respectable, your gonna have to get a higher trim or else it's gonna look like shite (ie, no fog lights, small tires with crappy rims, plastic everywhere).

All the 4Runners look great and well equipped IMO...The wife didn't like the hood scoop so the SE was out and the limited was a bit out of our price range. We ended up with the 4WD SR5 with the whatever pacvkage that includes 17's and a moonroof, we love it and i think it looks just as good as any limited on the road. I see so many "cheap" looking cars and trucks that the other automakers put out there and it's just nice to see toyota keeps all their trims looking great.

Even the "base" SR5 is very well optioned IMO. Congrats on the new truck and welcome to the forums.

I know exactly what you're talking about and I agree.... To see black plastic in the foglight holes is always a big disappointment and makes any vehicle look like the cheapo version. I guess it costs too much to fabricate a different front fascia for those who want to buy the less expensive models without fogs.

There are only two things that I can think of that makes the SR5 4Runners stand out as a cheaper model-- the 16" wheels and the unpainted mirrors. Of course you can always get an SR5 with the bigger wheels, but its too bad Toyota doesn't paint the mirrors. Seriously...how much extra would that cost them per vehicle???

i agree about the mirrors, but mine is black so less of issue for me...

The only other SUV that came well equipped across all trim levels was the pathfinder, from the outside that is, they felt very cheap on the inside though, WAY too much hard plastic.

Get a 4x4 for under $20k? sounds good to me!

SR5's are a fantastic value IMO.

I've always liked the Sport models with the little hood scoop , even on the Tacoma's I would get a sport model.

Although on my 06 Sport I hated the grill with a passion and switched it to color coded limited grill and like that sooooooo much better. For some reason I don't like the chrome grill on 4r's .

Congrats on your new truck! I agree with what you said. You can't buy a "stripped" 4Runner. SR5's are very well equipped.

I agree, we got my wife's Versa stripped because she is very selfless if not practical to a fault. Looking back I would not do it again. I am glad my Sport Edition has all of it's goodies.

A stripped 4wd model would be nice for the at-home-modder off road types and offer it at a much lower price.

Don't see too many on the lots without the 17" wheels and a roof rack, which is about all ours came with.

I have to agree, it is a well equiped vehicle for a base model. Although it was a slight step down from our Eddie Bauer Expedition, I'm pretty sure the 4Runner won't be in the shop near as often.

Also, if you decide to lift your 4Runner, it is easier to do it with a SR5. You could also add the same color keyed grille as the limited if you wanted for less than $200.
