Hey guys! I just picked up 98 T4R. I love it so far. First here are some pics.....

It's a 4cyl, got 157,488 miles on it.

You could order a new one, that might be very pricey. www.partznet.com and other online places discount Toyota OE parts. There are several companies that make cargo area mats. A nice rubber/plastic mat and some thin, fresh Hope Depot grey carpet might be a better answer for less total money.

Welcome.. Nice looking ride. I've always thought that the 3rd gens were the best looking T4R's made to date.

Oh, and about the moron bit? Admitting that you are one immediately disqualifies you from being one. :D
 
Welcome from Texas to another 3rd gen owner. Moron??? The only stupid question on here is the one you don't ask. I am one of the "elderly gentlemen" on here, and I still ask some pretty basic and obvious questions. Nobody on here will chastise you for what you ask.

You guys are too nice! Yes, a plastic mat would be good. I play in a band so im hauling gear a lot. I need something that will take the wear and tear.

Husky Liners and weathertech get pretty great reviews here. They are pricey, but I like my huskies. Check out a member JA. He's got a site called top4runners and look at his mods. He's got a cargobox mod in which he ordered some carpet to line his box. That may be another alternative to the home depot route if they don't have anything that matches.

The only time someone will chastise :ak472::whipping2you will be if you dont use the SEARCH function. Even then it is only a few people that will do that to you. There are tons of threads about lifts, what tires etc. BTW the Husky liners are awesome and worth every penny. I have full set front middle and cargo on my 98.

Nice runner man. You'll love it especially for hauling band gear. I love my 4runner when it's raining - I don't have to worry about getting all the amps and everything wet. It's nice to be able to lock everything up too (camper shells on P/Us just don't feel as safe). I can fit my bass amp, 4x10 cabinet, 2 half stacks, a PA w/ 4 15" speakers, 2 guitars, my 1969 Fender Jazz Bass, and misc. pedal boards. The drummers on his own.

Amazing how much gear you can get into these trucks. I had a 98 SR5 Tacoma with a shell. I never felt worried about theft but the 4runner makes me feel a bit more safe. I had practice Tuesday and had to get our amps back to the studio. The other guitarist and I use Fender twin's. I had our pedals boards and my guitar. Didnt even have to fold the chairs down. Which brings me to another question. How do the seats go ALL the way down? The seats where yr butts go dont budge. I pull that lever on the back rest but the seats only go down so far.

There are cloth tabs in the middle that are attached to the locking mechanisms of the bottom 1/2 of the seat. you pull on the tab and it releases the seat to swing up towards the back of the front seats. Sometimes people will put the seats down and the tabs get stuck underneath. Feel around in the crack and you'll see what I mean. haha that sounds funny.:thumb3:
