I'm pretty sure I'm an idiot (CB antenna mount question)

So I'm setting up my CB and purchased everything I wanted in my setup- A 2' Firestik II and a Diamond K400. When I was shopping, I saw the K400s that comes with the coax, so I figured, what the hell, may as well buy that. The problem is that the base is an SO-239, which is completely different from the antenna. Is there an adapter that will work to attach the antenna or will I need to buy a whole new spool of coax and base?

Sorry, I worded that poorly (2 hour commutes in the middle of a snow storm will do that). The stud soldered into the cable IS the SO239, so basically, it looks like that stud you posted only turned upside down without the antenna mount (soldered right into the cable). I'll post a pic when I get home. I'm hoping it's just an adapter that is readily available that I'm just completely overlooking.

Are you saying that one is BNC and the other is SO239? If that is the case you can get an adapter that converts one to the other.... I had to do this with one of my radios... Picked it up at You do it Electronics out in Needham....
 
I honestly couldn't tell you. I was under the impression that the stud that came with the mount was a SO239. Here's a pic I just took:





Here's the antenna (is this a BNC?):






I figured there would be an adapter that would work but can't seem to find one online. I live 10 mins from you do it and that's where I was planning on going, but I didn't even know what I needed to ask for.

Ah, I misunderstood which connection you were working with.... The mounting base has to be matched to the type of antenna you have.... Your antenna is a 3.8-24 thread so the mount you should have gotten is this one (K400-3.8C)... Diamond K400-3/8C Antenna Mount

So we know that the adapter you need has one side as a 3/8-24 thread.... Still can't clearly see what the mating side is on your mounting base... Do you have the exact model of K400 available? That will tell what we need for the other side.... If it's a K400S then we need the SO239 to 3/8-24 adapter.... If it's a K400NMO then we need a NMO to 3/8-24 adpater...

It is the K400s.
Is this what I need? It looks right, but I honestly have no clue. I am usually good at researching this kind of stuff, but the googles have failed me this time.

Edit: nevermind, that's completely wrong and I am lost. All the so239 adapters seem to be female, just like the stud I have.

Edit #2: I think I found it! Can anyone confirm if this is correct? Also, is there anything special I need to do to ground this thing?

I think that is the one you want in edit #2 (or similar if you want to hit You do it).... Female on both ends of the adapter (male to male)....

Grounding is not a problem..... You should be able to mount the antenna base directly to your hatch, run your coax to your radio and be good to go.... I have a similar rig mounted to my hatch that I use for my ham radio.....

Gotcha, tbh, I didn't see an ebay link. I thought you were referring to my second edit (it may have been blocked on my work computer or something).

Yea, I posted a link to an adapter trying to save a bit of money.... Turned out it was the wrong one so quickly edited it but wasn't sure which one you saw...
 
Not trying to pi$$ on anyone's work, but with radios you have loss (of power) between the radio and antenna in connections and cables.
So, adding an adapter will cause more loss...
