Immobilizer key

I changed a ECU on my 03 4runner, and I dont have any keys from the new ecu, all I have is a master key from my old ecu, which was stolen. I did not try to start the car yet, because I dont know what will happen. I need to know if the immobilizer holds all the key code info, or the ECM? If its immobilizer which holds the key codes, then my car will start, if its ecu then Im screwed...
Any info will help.

I'm not sure where it's stored. You can put your key into the ignition and watch the red light in the center console. If the key is recognized, the light should stop flashing. You don't have to turn the car on, just stick it in the ignition.

I think it's a combination of both. The manual says a master key is needed to program additional keys and the ECU needs to be replaced if all keys are lost. I think a trip to the dealer is inevitable. I hope you'll get your truck running again.

Do you guys know anyone that can program the master key without needing to replace a ecu? Kind of sucks spending all that money for new computer plus towing to nearest dealer.

There is a guy called locksmithcharley.com he can reprogram your ecu, but he is in Phoenix Az. Maybe he knows someone closer to you that can do it.

It's in the center console, next to the display with the average fuel economy/range display, under the word "PASSENGER". The red light has a picture of a car on it with a key inside it.

Yes the key light is flashing. I already found some asian guy who can program the key in my area, charges $180. Thanks for your help people.
I was getting my car ready for programing, while putting ecu in I noticed that I have some wires cut and torn where the ecu is located. Have no Idea where they go, tried color matching but no help, they seem to be torn out all the way. Or im just colorblind
