This is a break down of the wire info for car audio and alarm installs in the 1996-2002 3rd Gen 4Runners. ALL WIRES MUST BE TESTED AND VERIFIED BEFORE HOOKING INTO THEM. USE A DMM (digital multi meter) OR AIRBAG SAFE TEST LIGHT TO VERIFY ALL WIRES. I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE TO ANYONES VEHICLE! THESE WIRE COLORS AND LOCATIONS ARE FOR REFERENCE ONLY.
1996-2002 Audio
Accessory 12Volt: Grey

2001-2002 White/Blue stripe Pin #1 or #4 of 11 pin plug on back of dash panel
Parking Brake - : 1996-1998 Green/White stripe at parking brake switch
1999-2002 Red/White stripe at parking brake switch
Brake Light + : 1996-2002 Green/White stripe Pin #10 of 22 pin plug in drivers kick panel behind cover plate
* Both wires Black/White and Pink/Blue connect to the power antenna.
15 amp fuse labeled "ACC" in drivers side dash panel and 15 amp fuse labeled "Dome" under hood control the Stereo System. ACC has power only when the key is on and Dome has power at all times.
FOR ALL YEARS 1996 - 2002
--- IF the vehicle has 4 speakers ( without the tweeters in the front doors ) there is no factory amplifier.
--- IF the vehicle has 6 speakers ( with the tweeters in the front doors ) there is a factory amplifier.
--- Factory amplifier is located directly below and behind the radio mounted to the dash substrate with 2 10mm bolts.
---Factory radio brackets are best to use to mount the new radio but a dash kit is available. If factory brackets are used, a storage pocket is also available if a single DIN radio is installed and no pocket was available from the factory.

--- There are 2 Antennas used in the 4Runners. a powered antenna on the passenger side fender and an in glass antenna in the Rear quarter glass. The front Power antenna can be replaced with a Non powered antenna from a Toyota Tacoma. (See Tacoma Whip Mod Thread )
