Importing from US to Canada?

I'm in the market for a new (to me) 3rd gen runner but finding a relatively un-molested '99-'00 Limited with e-locker that isn't Desert Dune or completely rusted out up here in Canada is proving to be a more difficult task than I had planned on. The more frustrating part of it is that I've been able to find a few decent looking rigs in the PNW area and down the coast into California but I have NO idea what goes into importing one here.

Anyone have any experience in this regard? Ideally going from US to Canada? I've done some basic research on the RIV and Transport Canada sites but just wondered if anyone has any input as to how much of a PITA this might be. Any (constructive) input helps.

If you get a truck from Cali, it should be pretty easy. They already have emission standards far tighter than Canada.

The main thing you usually need to do to import a US car/truck is retrofit DRLs on it.

You could either buy drop-in kit or I know there is a guide somewhere around here on how to bypass it (reverse the work).

I think your cheapest to do would be to get a lighting harness from any gen 3 at a junkyard and fit that in.

I had a 99 Dodge Durango that started it's life as a Vermont wildlife's truck, got totaled and imported non-working.

The only thing different was the DRLs (cluster was still in miles).
