Impulse buy... new tires!

We just had a hard rain in Denver yesterday and it turns out I disliked my tires more than I thought! Solution... better tires.

I was out on my lunch and decided screw it, went to Discount Tire and got the 265/75 R16 BF Goodrich All Terrain KO, 10 ply sidewalls. I could have probably found them cheaper but I gave in. Will Discount Tire still honor a price match after sale? If so who's selling them for cheap :biggrin2:

Anyways, what a difference! I was riding on 265/70 R16 Michelin LTX before, nothing wrong with that if you just looking for on road use only. I have a 2001 SR5 and there is abosutely no issue with rubbing. I can alreadly tell just by driving a little that they have more resistance than the previous but I guess that's the price you pay for looking good.

I will snap some shots when I get a chance to see the before and afters.

wow 10 ply sidewalls!

Had no idea those Rugged Trails were all that rugged. Good find. Curious how much those are running these days? And if you don't want to say that is fine too.

I just went to some used Michelin LTX M&S-my first Michelins ever. And I am old as dirt.

I am liking em very much. I used to have steering wheel shimmy and now it is gone. I ran em hard last weekend in the rain coming back from Eagle/Vail and I thought they felt fine. Yours were probably pretty bald I am guessing.

Let's see some shots of those new tires when you get a chance. Go to Discount Tire direct dot com and the store should match that price at least.

Here in Littleton the BFGs are $1,088 out the door with the road hazard certificates and $105 less without. Even the our "smaller" sizes are climbing in price.
6 years ago I paid under $700 for my Nittos with the road hazard protection and back in October I paid $860 for my Duratracs (without the road hazard it was $780) and I see now you'll be paying $1,027,that's a whopping $170 increase just in 10 months.

Sorry I mis spoke earlier! I picked up the BF Goodrich All Terrain TA KO (123Q) with the 10 ply side wall. NOT the Rugged Trails.

Mine ended up costing me $1100 otd. Tires ran $212.00 each in case you were wondering. This includes the warranty, lifetime rotations and balancing blah blah blah. I use the roatations all the time and I had some Yokohama Geolanders on my Taco. Blew a tire and it paid for itself. I checked with Big O Tires as well and they are the same price. I am yet to find a cheap price in a store in Denver.

For those of you wondering, Discount Tire will match any lower prices even after purchase. I have found them for cheaper online but with shipping they come out to be a few bucks less or more in some cases even more. They even offered to buy my old tires.

It was a toss between going back to the Yokohama Geolander AT/S, Goodyear Duratracs and BF Goodrich All Terrains. I made the desision based on you guys so don't let me down.

BFG AT's are a great tire and will last forever. I considered them when I bought my Duratracs, but the price was too high plus I didnt want a 10 ply tire. Ended up with the Duratracs in the same size for $700 OTD from Americas Tire.

Not sure if anyone else would agree....but when I had the BFG's AT KO's I found they really sucked in hard rain....I would hydroplane alot, and in the snow they were useless. I ended up getting my Mickey Thompson ATZ's and found a huge improvement. My Maxxis Bighorns have done well also......but I only use them in the summer months.

Aside from the performance, the BFG's were a good looking tire though......
