WAY too much! It has a supercharger, but also 180k. It shoulc cost 6-7k tops in the Bay Area market. I would keep looking as it probably need a s/c rebuild.
 
Thats true about the SC rebuild. But I think it is worth more than 7k. I'd say 8.5-9k.

The ONLY thing that is dragging the price down is the mileage. Other than that, its pretty nice. I mean, come on, it has TRD Headers and TRD exhaust, a REALLY nice sound system, its quite clean inside too.
 
I sold my '99 SR5 in June with 193K on it for $7500 and it wasn't supercharged. Not sure at that mileage how much the S/C helps though. I would go take a look and then beat him up a lot on the price. In today's economy, I wouldn't be surprised if you could drive it away for $8K. Afterall, how many people are really considering pay that kind of money for a vehicle with that many miles? We all know how good these things are but it's a small market, you need to make the seller aware of that.
 
Thanks for the fast replies. I'm still searching for my one (coming back to the t4r family) and just thought this was interesting. I'm going to be doing MUCH digging before I pull the trigger but "lurking" has reassured me that "higher miles" does not necessarily equal a BAD vehicle.
 
I'll say it depends upon the market. Just got my '00 SR5 Highlander 4x4 with 130K, in almost perfect condition, inside and out. Only thing I have had to do is tighten the valve cover bolts, and replace the blower motor resistor. That's it.

I got mine for $7200, and while others have said that's way too high, my response is "Not in Missouri, for some reason." In Missouri that's a GOOD price.

So, that has more mileage than mine, but it's a limited and supercharged. I'd agree with 4Ripcord on the price; sounds more than fair to me.

There the same way here in tennisse. Its hard to find a 3rd gen 4runner under 7K. Even with high miles on it.

As for price. He is asking 10,500 knowing it will negotiate down. He won't get that much, unless he gets a really green buyer who hasn't a clue how to look at market value.

Anyway. I say 7,500 to 8,500 is a good range. A supercharger can have a positive, negative or NO impact on price. It all comes down to the circumstances. If the design is strong and low mileage, I say a charger increases value. At 180k miles, when engines start falling under normal wear and tear anyway, it all depends on how it was driven. If cared for and driven with care, a properly installed charger, placed on an engine designed to take it; will have a minimal impact on longevity. But, if the person drove it like a bat out of hell, then who knows.

Personally, in my head, I do a longevity guesstimate in my brain. A supercharger is nice, but on an engine with 180k; I don't really see it a a super strong selling point.
 
↑ I agree with this too. I would always hesitate buying a Runner with a S/C on it or any used sports car for that matter. Just would worry me on how hard it was driven.

That being said, there's a right price for everything.

Dang that is in my backyard. As others have said, sounds like a lot of money. S/C with no fuel mods at sea level hmmmmmm, and no locker :lasercannon:unless I missed it? Let me know if you want me to take a look at it?

Considering that I purchased my '01... one owner, full maintenance records (and a great history @ that), with the S/C, headers, exhaust, high flow cat, AND the TRD 7th.... with 113K on it, over a year ago, for $10k.....

I'd say I might pay $8000 for that truck. The only way I'd get near $10k would be if he could prove some MAJOR maintenance performed recently. The ad mentions it's had a timing belt recently, so that's good.

Also, I would take not of the fact that that truck has been run for 180k with a S/C, near sea level, with NO apparent fuel mods. That's a good recipe for alot of ping, and the engine's bottom end may have taken a beating over the years.

Figure it like this... what's the truck worth without the mods?

S/C $800-$1000
Headers $300
Exhaust $300
Sub/System $400-500

So you take a $7k truck, and add in $2k worth of value in the mods... and you've got abotu $9k for the truck. To make it worthwhile, you have to have some profit/savings built into the deal right? So $8000-8500 is about right IMO.
 
Also remember that we're picky enthusiasts on here and know the "real" prices for our vehicles and can be had in ideal situations but "regular" folks might see even $10k as a good price (the SC alone could be a selling point) and snap it up so you most likely will get the guy to negotiate but to think it'll sell for less than $8k might be wishful thinking. Yes,the miles are high and would be a deterrent for me with the price but the closer you could get it to $8000 would be a solid sale.

Also take note that solid 3rd gens aren't getting more common on the used market.

The problem here is you need the stock parts to replace the mods and that will dig into the profit and the hassle might not be worth it.
 
I thought that was implied, but good point. Alot of people keep the stock parts when they do these kind of mods. Alot of people dont.
 
At this point, looking in Mo, i'm not finding ANYTHING worth my time for under 10k......9k is pushing it. I was thinking/hoping to find something with close to 100k on it with a complete history.
