Info from the dealer about adding VSC to 06

I talked to the service mgr. about adding this feature ( got know where ). Said everything is possible for a price. So I guess If I want it done I'll have to do it myself some how.

He then proceeded to tell me how a guy wanted to put the NAV. system in his new sport and it was going to cost him $21k to do it ............. I wish I would have just came from lunch so I could have puked on him desk !!

They play us for such fools .........

Although when I explained why I wanted to do this because it was a dangerous feature at times . He said many , many ,complaints about this and thats why the have done it on the 08's.

I plan on going in and talking to the mgr. about being treated like a little old lady who only knows she has to put gas in her car to make it run. I'll update you guys on how that goes. I've just never had to **** around so much with a brand of car .

Although I love the 4R and Toyota in general , it's starting to become sickening !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately I've learned to expect nothing but bad from any dealership, Toyota or not. My car before the 4Runner was a 2005 Scion tC. That car has a roof that is entirely made of glass, and within the first few months of ownership, one of the panels shattered and rained glass all over me. I took the car to the same dealership where I bought it; only to have them refuse to service my car because it was "beyond their ability." Scion also made it a point to call the event the result of an "intrusion," such as a rock or something. The odd part was that I was by myself on the road, there was nobody else around.

About six months after I paid a $500 deductible to have the repairs done (and with no help from Scion) I got a call from Scion's Customer Service dept telling me they wanted to interview me as part of their cooperation with the NHTSA...

I ended up having my car fixed at another Toyota/Scion dealership in town, the repair took six weeks. For that reason, I wish I could say I'm surprised that they'd tell you that adding Nav or VSC was such a tremendous undertaking.

you are talking about the vsc cutoff switch that comes on the 08s I assume since all models and years (after03 at least) come with vsc standard.

Just because they put a device to turn it off in 2008, doesn't necessarily mean that there is a defect in the operation. For example, every new gun sold has to have some sort of gun lock packaged in. The safety of the gun never changed, but it was deemed that the gun owner was too stupid to secure the weapon safely himself/herself so the gov't mandated the addition of a gun lock (Trigger lock or cable lock). No mechanical "safety" feature will save you if the safety mechanism between your ears is defective...

I don't care about adding the switch, I'll just drive the truck with the confines of its limits. <sarcasm on>I've somehow survived 4 years of ownership with this dangerous vehicle. <sarcasm off> :
