I'm going to purchase a suv in the very near future. I'm set on a 4runner since its Toyota and I've always loved them. I'm going to go look at this 4runner in the link this weekend and I figured you guys could give me some helpful tips on what to look for and if it's worth the price he's asking. Thanks in advance. http://maine.craigslist.org/cto/3209096749.html

Doesn't look like a bad deal to me. Check it over for rust. No timing belt to worry about. FWIW, I just sold an 04 4x4 sport w/o a sunroof and 154k for $9700. I would shoot for $11k

Looks like it's in good shape, 102k isn't a lot of miles for an '04. It's got a Toytec lift but does say which one so you should clarify that. There is a guy near me with an '04 limited for sale that you can compare here which is all stock. You can also run the vin# at the Toyota owners site to see if they have any service records. Other than that i'd just check all the usual used car stuff and also have it looked over by your mechanic.

Good luck!

I just found out what the lift consists of, its a small spacer up front with Old man emu spring front and rear, also it has the diff drop. Anything I should look for with a lift installed?

I wouldn't really buy something with mods like that, but that one looks to be in good shape. If it was someone similar to those you find on this forum, it was probably very well taken care of despite being lifted. Make sure you check the undercarriage for dents/rust. Seems like a decent deal. And it's got low miles too.

Looks like it's in pretty good shape but I'd still have it looked over by a trusted mechanic or Toyota dealer before making an offer. Wouldn't hurt to ask them to do a compression test. 102k miles isn't a lot for a Toyota but you just don't know if he's maintained it well.

Also make sure you can shift into 4wd Hi and Lo.

Picking it up on Tuesday, it's pretty damn clean and you can tell it hasn't been hammered on. Only rust is near the top of the rear license plate and the clear coat on the driver side fender flare is peeling a little. Pretty pumped, I'm thinking of plasti dipping the wheels and front grill.
