Info on these TRD wheels

why the hell would TRD make these wheels in a 7" width?
7.5" is typically the minimum width for larger (read: non-street) tires, is it not?

yep. i saw that listing as well. e-mailed the seller and he/she confirmed that they weigh ~25 lbs.

sold fast! better pics too:

I dont get these wheels. They look great, but why are they offered in such a stockish size and offset?

I wish they were at least 7.5" and 0 offset..

i don't get it either. and for the "Pro" too...

i was all hot and bothered for them, hoping the 7" width was just mis-info/cut-and-paste placeholder data. but now that i've seen it stamped on that wheel plain as day i'm all :wtf:

c'mon, TRD: the stock Trail Edition wheels are 7.5". what were you thinking? or is it the 4Runner TRD Pro(bably gonna wanna nutha setta wheels)?

Found this pic of them on tacoworld, mounted with 285's

yeah, those pics have been floating around since the FJ-S concept was shown at SEMA. maybe in the TRD supercharger thread?

hard to tell, but might be 265, not 285.

Maybe it's for weight or because it's concave-look.

still doesn't make sense given that most off-road tires spec a minimum 7.5" width.

Looks like these wheels were made to be a dealer installed add-on where they could reuse the stock tires. I with they would offer it in another size geared more at the aftermarket crowd.

this pic you can actually see they're 285's, makes me wonder if they are one off's prototypes @ 7.5'' width...who knows.

That makes the decision to go with a 7" width for the production version even worse… :noidea:

nice pic of Knife Edge, btw.

Thanks! I can't take credit for it, I haven't been up there for almost 20 years and I'm not sure what happened to my photos from back then. I grew up near Farmington but Baxter was probably my favorite part of Maine.
