Info on these TRD wheels

Check out the Tire Fitment Guide [MENTION=66316]1engineer[/MENTION] put together -- BS of the stock 2010 TE wheel is in the chart and here's the link to my post on the measurement pic. Since I too get frustrated with having little nuggets of data spread around the forum and interwebz (that, and it took me forever to find where I'd posted the info in the first place!!!), I'll spare the suspense and tell you it's 4.875"

Also, since I didn't find it easily accessible in other threads, the backspacing on the 17x7.5" TRD Beadlock Style wheels is 4.5".

Hey, guys---I think everybody may have freaked out prematurely on the whole idea of Toyota putting these wheels on lockdown. The official Toyota website now says the following:

"Genuine TRD Pro Accessories
Don't have a TRD Pro? No problem — the TRD Pro line of accessories is also available on non-TRD vehicles. Add extra attitude with components that have been engineered with your Toyota in mind, and when installed by your Toyota dealer, maintain the ruggedness and reliability you've come to expect from your SUV."

The black Pro wheels are definitely included on the "no problem" list. I think anybody who wants them will probably be able to get them...

That's a slap in the face if we still can't order the wheels... they even show the wheel under accessories with that text...

I just talked to the parts manager at my local dealership where my wheels are ordered to check to see if they were in yet.
He informed me, late delivery would be this Friday and could arrive earlier.
He said there were 500 at the distributer in Kentucky so getting them wasn't an issue.

Still waiting to get the call they are actually "on the floor"!

Well,

I had an order submitted with the dealer I purchased from

Then got the dreaded call today.

Order was kicked back. No sales allowed to anyone without a TRD Pro VIN, and even then, you would need an explanation as to why you were ordering another set, i.e. stolen, which puts the dealership at risk in an audit.

My parts guy said he did everything he could to try and get them, and called Toyota directly and got that explanation.


Hopefully Toyota gets their heads out of their ass and realizes they will make a killing if they offer them up.

Since it was brought up... it does not appear to be an issue, but utahsooner, how do the 285's run on the 7in wheels? In the pictures they don't appear to bulge out very much at all. any rubbing?

I have been told by my parts guy that they have plenty of stock available, so I may be ordering this week.

My wheels are an inch wider, accommodate a wide variety of tires safely according to manufacturers, weigh around 5lb less per wheel, and came with excellent customer service. So no, I have no reason to be mad BRO.

Just surprised that people are falling over themselves for these when Toyota clearly isn't trying to sell them to everyone that wants them. They look nice, but at 7" width, seem to have missed the mark for the majority of the crowd going for 285s (that fit on 7.5" width minimum according to manufacturers, not some guy "that's been doing tires for years"). I seriously thought about the gray version TBH, just seemed like more value to go with Countersteers.

He said there are some 2500+ wheels on the floor at the distributors across the US.
There are no stop sales on them even though they do not appear on the TRD site: TRD - Part Detail this PM.

He said for people interested to tell their dealership parts guys to search different distributors. There is no reason they cannot sell you this wheel until they run out.

I guess if we want them, just be persistent.

Yes! It's perfect for those of us that want to run 255s.

Unfortunately, I gave up on the black TRD wheel chase and went with a different wheel on my 5th gen.

Who knows, I still may buy a set and throw them on my 4th gen.
