Info on these TRD wheels

My wheels came in today. Do you guys remcommend getting the wheels installed at a Dealer or local Discount tire? Don't want my brand new wheels getting all scratched up during installation.

Discount Tire should be fine. They put on new wheels all the time. I would just tell the guy at the counter that you are very particular about your vehicle and want to make sure the new wheels look perfect when installed. It gives them the heads up to be extra careful.

I like the fact the FN wheels are an inch wider 17x8, rather than 17x7, but really like the black factory Trd pro centers caps w/red trd logo, will they fit on the FN wheels?

I would like to know this as well. Anybody tried this before?

Thank you everyone for your various wheel write-ups. It really helped us decide.

My wife and I just bought 5 Matte Black FN wheels and we're very happy with how they turned out. They look great. After reading about wheel sizes we feel more confident with 285's on 8" wheels. The whole process with FN is great. Dustin spent considerable time with me going over the wheel sizes, offsets, tire fitment, etc. He even sent me a great guide to taking care of the wheels when I enquired about wax (a no no as I guessed on matte black). The wheels were delivered in one day to Southern California and beautifully packaged. They also included a set of really nice matching lug nuts. I like the way the center caps look in person.

The wheels are 17 x 8", 4.5" backspace (0 offset) and 24lbs.

We had Grabber AT2 285/70R17 put on them yesterday. Our lift won't be installed for another week so there is some slight rubbing on the front driver's side front bumper (the actual painted fender portion) when I turn the wheel to the right in reverse. I think this might be partly due to the stock alignment. I unscientifically checked and the driver side front wheel looks like it's farther forward then the passenger side.

We used the flat center caps that came with the wheels which I like. We like the splash of red on the trd caps but since this isn't a trd pro 4Runner we don't want to recreate them. We may add something to the cap later. I didn't remove the mud flaps. The slight rubbing is actually on the front bumper so I'm not hitting the flaps at all. After we get the lift and alignment done we'll see.

We weren't sure how much people were able to sell their new stock wheels and tires for in So Cal so hopefully this will help. We just sold our 4 stock wheels and tires with 300 miles without tpms for $500. It took less than a day on cl. I was happy the guy was excited to get them for his 2000 LE. We kept the spare to use as a second spare if we think we will need one.

Just wanted to say, thanks to Dustin, awesome customer service wheels were here fast and the quality is superb. I put the lighter Gunmetal wheels on my silver Lexus GX470 with 285/70/17 Coopers, love the look. Thanks again I would highly recommend FN wheels. ps I couldn't help putting the TRD caps on them because they look so good.

very nice. Unfortunately, they're not available though Toyota Canada for me so looks like it's going to be OEM steelies for my winter tires.

I know this is a bit late, but they do sell them at the dealerships in Canada, I got mine for $310 CAD for the grey ones.

Cochrane Toyota has the TRD wheels on their website for $350. I was able to get the FN Pro (x) for $250 (Canadian funds) a corner from them.

$1400 CDN ($350x4) plus taxes and shipping. While they're nice and all, that's quite the expense for those wheels. Better off just plastidipping the stock wheels for $40 IMO.

Got them a couple of weeks ago. They are just sitting in the Garage right now, as I have winter tires on the stock rims. Need to decide which tires to run, but have lots of time for that over the winter.

Yes the price is a but nuts considering our friends to the south are getting them for the $200 range. I don't mind the look of the stock 14-16 trail rims. It's too bad that everyone on Craigslist thinks they are made of gold.

Any Luck getting an accurate weight on the 20" Limited wheels?

From what I can gather from this and other threads, the Limited wheels weigh ±35 lbs. and, with the factory Yokohama G96Bs at ±36 lbs. (per TireRack and Amazon), yield a total weight of ±71 lbs. (plus balancing weights and TPMS).

If the 17" TRD wheels are ±26 lbs., combining them with 265/70R17 KO2s in load range C (at 45.7 lbs. per BFG) yields <72 lbs.; effectively the same unsprung weight as stock (slightly less with load range C Duratracs at ± 44lbs. and obviously less with your lighter FN f(x) Pro wheels).

Hi [MENTION=132063]Matt Hightower[/MENTION] - I was finally able to get that weight for you from one of my Toyota contacts.

Per my contact - a factory 20x7" 4Runner Limited wheel is approximately 37lbs w/o tire, and 72 lbs with a 245/60R20 Yokohama OEM (used) tire. These numbers should be considered accurate +/- 1lbs due to tire wear and wheel weights for balancing.

Where are you finding the brushed silver TRD center caps that look so good with the FN Wheels?

The cap is an OEM part that is available from your local Toyota dealer. We also keep the caps in stock and can provide them to you for $10 / ea as an add-on with our wheels. The Toyota part # is PTR18-35092.

Cochrane usually has the OEM 17x7" TRD 4Runner Pro wheels in stock, and if not, I know they import them from the states regularly.

Cochrane also keeps our 17x8" FN Wheels ƒ(x) Pro wheel in stock as well.

I recommend contacting Darcy or Kyle, as they are both very knowledgeable with our products, and of course with the OEM Toyota products as well.

I'm also looking for more of a gloss rather than matte finish, what kind of finish is your wheel?

Still hunting around to find out if I can keep my mud flaps with my Boss lift and 285 Duratracs ...

Our semi-matte gunmetal grey finish is slightly lighter than Magnetic Grey Metallic (MGM) paint. This finish is not, however, glossy. It is a semi-matte (satin) finish. It's not a full flat (think charcoal), but rather a semi-flat/semi-matte finish that has a slight satin sheen, but not high or even semi gloss by any means.

We do offer a high-gloss gunmetal, which is our dark graphite gunmetal (gloss). This finish is slightly darker than factory MGM paint. This is a dark, shiny color with a noticeable (but not overboard) metallic flake.

Either color looks great on MGM in my opinion. Since you're in Calgary please try to contact Cochrane Toyota Parts Dept. and make an appointment to drive to Cochrane to check out the finishes in person / next to your 4Runner.

As for keeping your mud flaps with a Toytec Boss lift and 285/70R17 Goodyear Duratracs - it should be possible with the proper alignment setting (more positive caster) and possibly some minor trimming to inside corner of the mud flaps.
