Info on these TRD wheels

Went with the TRD Pro wheels

I bought the OEM TRD Pro wheels. After researching the FNs and a few other aftermarket options, I decided to stick with the 7" wide TRD fleet wheels.

FWIW I also went with BFG KO2's in 285 70 17. I've seen plenty of other T4Rs with the TRD 7" wide wheels and 285s. I don't foresee any issues. Although could be a factor in extreme air-down conditions. Not too worried.

I'm sure they will, but I think the black on the aluminum Trail wheels would look pretty...not so good.

I agree...that's why I had them powder coated flat black lol.

Talked to Dustin this weekend. Very helpful as many in this thread have mentioned. Unfortunately, the wheels are on backorder but scheduled to arrive within a week or two.

If so, sure they would look fine.

Right. And I said yes, they will fit but they will look like shit on the silver wheels and he said that he had them powder coated black.

Ive seen a couple of 4runners in Magnetic Grey with TRD wheels. I am torn between the Matte Gun Metal and the Matte Black.

If you all have pics of either on a MGM 4runner, please post!

Ya know, I like both of them so much it's really hard to pick a favorite.

I really think it boils down to personal taste and the color of the vehicle.

I have black because I was going for the all black look, but those gun metal grey wheels are bad ass and I think they look killer on white and red body color vehicles.

You could be correct that the black might be best on the MGM. I'd have to see in person whether the contrast works or not, and again thats just personal taste sometimes.

I've sold several trail premium guys the wanna-be TRD set up (rims, grille). One guy we accidentally got the gray instead of black like he ordered. We put them on anyone and I'm telling you, IMHO they looked super badass. I don't have a pic but he was super happy and glad he didn't have the black.

I have a MGM trail and feel exactly the same way. I think I've only seen one picture of that combo, though.

Glad I went with the black wheels. Initially, it was going to be the gun metal, but I liked this combo better.

I picked these up a couple of days ago and had them put on with KO2s. I'm having a hard time getting rid of vibrations. After mounting them my new '16 TEP was undriveable at highway speeds. It shimmyed so much it almost blurred my vision. I went back and they remounted two of the tires on the rims and balanced them all again.

The ride is much much better, but there is still a steady vibration at highway speeds. It wasn't there with stock wheels and tires and it's not there on the Jeep this 4Runner replaced which had BFG KO's. Also, the rear wheels have a TON of balancing weights on them. The fronts have a few tiny pieces, but the rears have double stacked rows.

I don't see anything in this thread to suggest these wheels are hard to balance so before I started going down that road I just wanted to ask...at this point do I need to be talking to the dealership about these wheels or can I just focus on the BFG KO2s as the culprit?

My girlfriend has a '16 Tacoma that we had Toyota dark satin rims and Cooper AT3's installed on and it is smooth as silk so I know going from a P-rated street tire to LT-rated AT tires doesn't automatically cause vibration.

I had my TRD Pro wheels balanced at Discount (stock tires remounted on them) and they are smooth as silk.

What you might try doing is mounting the spare on the one that has all the weights and see if the vibration goes away. If it does, I'd try to get Toyota to replace the rim. They have manufacturing tolerances and if the rim is that far out of whack its probably bad and needs to be replaced.
