Info on these TRD wheels

Anybody else have issues with the red TRD in their caps?

Just FYI I polished mine up with McGuire's a mag and aluminum polish and they turned out really well. I finished them off with plastic/vinyl reconditioning.

The paint is beyond reconditioning for the Trd. It looks faded/chipped. I was just curious if any other members have had the same issue. They are only a year old

I bought the OEM TRD Pro wheels. After researching the FNs and a few other aftermarket options, I decided to stick with the 7" wide TRD fleet wheels.

FWIW I also went with BFG KO2's in 285 70 17. I've seen plenty of other T4Rs with the TRD 7" wide wheels and 285s. I don't foresee any issues. Although could be a factor in extreme air-down conditions. Not too worried.

I thought you couldn't run 285's w/o some type of lift?

Yea I was really disappointed when I saw that yesterday. I was getting my lift put on and decided to clean the inside of my rims really good and saw the red TRD paint was garbage. I contacted the dealership and they told me the next time I bring it in for an oil change they will look at them so they can verify the issue to order new ones under warranty.

Did you spray them with wheel cleaner? That's what it looks like to me. That stuff is nasty and does more damage than good.

I only use citrus based cleaner like what you get at Home Depot. It cleans great and is totally saFE.

For the last couple years I have only used Simple Green on all of my wheels and it works great.

I wash them with typical car wash soap and I used simple green for the first time the other day. No extreme chemicals or anything.

i find even Simple Green is too sketchy to use on wheels. this Griot's Garage wheel cleaner is fantastic; cleans throughly with light brushing and totally biodegradable.

any wheel cleaner claiming "no brushing required" is almost certainly a nasty ass chemical cocktail that's bad for you, the planet, and probably your wheels.

I would say it's about average. That deal can be found all over the Internet!
