Injectors - Opinions? Anyone with experience going this route?

Hello All....

Looking to redo my injectors on my 2000 SR5....

My first thoughts naturally are removing the injectors and having them bench tested and sonically cleaned with new seals and all..... thats about $250 CAD

Up in canada here.... New injectors from the dealer are around $900 CAD for 6 new...

Then I did some looking around and found some Aisin (original) NEW injectors...same as dealer so it looks, on eBay 6 for $260ish CAD...

Anyone have any experience with buying injectors for that price range? Originals that are new?

I know the dealerships are big rip offs for the most part.... but 900 vs 260 for the same thing seems like maybe theres more to the story than I'm seeing? I really hope not as this would be a great solution to get new ones for the same price roughly as "redo-ing" ones with 300,000km on them.....

Theres warranty on them, they say they are authentic Aisin, New, etc...


Any help or experience with this would be greatly appreciated...

(The short of the story as to redoing the injectors is Ive traced down hard warm starts to a fuel pressure leak down, faulting injector staying cracked open (heat soak) losing fuel pressure, runs and starts perfect every other time other than short stopped periods and restarting after (around 30 min periods between starts) )

How do you know it's a leaky injector and not leaking through the check valve at the fuel pump? I misdiagnosed the same symptoms on my Cherokee and had to replace the fuel pump after I properly diagnosed the problem. You can test this with a fuel pressure gauge and a clamp on the line suppling fuel to the rail.

IF this isn't the problem, then go with the ones on ebay, everyone will say its 50/50 chance that you will get a good set, so if they say "flow matched" even better, I have 150 miles on mine, and no issues... Mind you OEM lasted 170,000 miles.. you can also buy a rebuild kit off ebay for about 35 CAD, and any motorshop should be able to rebuild them for 10 CAD a piece.

I see the link you sent, these look exactly like poem boxes, the counterfeits look like they aren't printed boxes and just a label, and those ones also said it had black o rings instead of the poem red ones.... these have a red o ring....

just saying....

you think Toyota would let its supplier sell to aftermarket in a toyota box?

buy a spare set of oem, send them to get cleaned, or remove yours and do the same.

I am in the exact same dilemma.

I stopped by Toyota yesterday and they quoted me $170 per injector. I may try to identify the specific injector and only replace the one.

I was looking at the same injectors on Ebay yesterday and asking myself the same questions. Not sure what I am going to do.

Injectors that are rebuilt are just as good as ones that are brand new. Look to ship off your injectors to a professional like Witchhunter or Dr. Injector. Will cost much less and you'll get perfect injectors back.

Yeah. Only problem for me. Shes my daily deiver and i need her for work. So to send them off really is t much of an option unfortunately.

It is the ideal situation tho. I will agree.

As for now Im going to try and do a bit of investigating and likely try to get a small fuel pressure guage mounted under the hood. Tap the fuel rail and find a spot to mount it somewhere in there.
