I'm baffled as to how so many people are driving around in all these $70,000 vehicles. The roads are littered with top spec trucks and SUVs that sticker around $70K. New car prices are skyrocketing and pays aren't following. I make what was once a pretty good salary but work for state gov't and rarely get a cost of living adjustment. Over the last 5 years I've gotten a total of 6% in cost of living adjustments, while the MSRP of a 4Runner TRD Pro has gone up 25% in that same time frame. It's near impossible to keep up with the rising cost of these new vehicles. When the redesigned 4runner comes out, supposedly, for the 2023 model year, what will a TRD Pro go for??? I imagine it's going to be at least a $65,000 vehicle. I can't imagine how a huge collapse isn't coming. We're seeing massive inflation in prices, interest rates that can be headed nowhere but up, and stagnant salaries. Time will tell.
