how big is it, i.e what wattage are we talking since that is fairly releative to the size of the actual unit. I have a 1200 watt that I've yet to find a proper spot to mount due to its size.

The unit is 4X6 inches, 300W. Maybe under the seat?
I am thinking connecting to the fuse box. Is this good spot, or should i connect directly to the battery.

just curious.... does it get hot when you really max out the current draw on that thing? That might help you decide where NOT to put it too.

I'd suggest wiring straight to battery, otherwise you'll be blowing fuses. I had a 400 that I ran on my 12 volt plug and it blew my fuses occasionally. Hence my reason for installing the 1200 straight to battery. I think it was anything over 300 they recommended wired to the battery.

Right now I use 12v plug, no problem with the fuses at all.I connect my laptop only. The unit get just worm, not hot.
I want to install this unit on passenger side under the glove compartment with Velcro and wire maybe to 12v plug with in line fuse. Any other suggestions????

If you connect to the battery directly the you have to worry about not to drain the battery. If this unit running and you have some other device plugin then you have to ad 12v timer or something like that

I like that idea comi. Just make sure it won't get in the way of a 6'+ passenger knee...

Here's an idea, maybe someone has already done this... hook up the inveter to a relay - utilizing maybe the ACC fuse location to trigger the relay - and that way the inverter would be connected to the battery but only be able to pull power from the battery when the car is on.

This is location where i want to install inverter.

Atomic what do you think about this location?

Hm....Looks fine to me, but I guess it's all up to you, where YOU want it. Laptop use only still? Have someone over 6 feet sit there and look for a place to put it. That would be my best guess.

This install is on my list also, I bought a 400w inverter from WOOT a couple of months ago that I want to put in somewhere and it's about 6x4x3.

I think someone in here put one in the center compartment below the armrest, facing UP. That was a good, clean install, but you need to have the armrest open in order to use anything outside of it. Try searching around this forum, as well as the forums in www.mp3car.com, since the compugeeks in those forums always are looking for ways to install power supply units and inverters.

Location Cobra CP 1575

I also brought an inverter but a pretty big one, it was on sale on Amazon for $100.00 I couldn't resist, but not I don't know where to put this bad boy. There isn't enough room under the passenger seat, please help. I have a 2008 V8 and the inverter is a Cobra CP 1575

Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated
