Installed: 285's, spidertrax, duratracs, OME

Looking at the tread they're probably better in mud than BFG ATs but the duratracs will probably dig in sand, where the ATs excel. I think the BFGs would be better on rocks too, because even at 10psi, a 10 ply tire doesn't flex as much as a 3 ply tire.
I have never used either tire, I'm just making an educated guess on specs and tread pattern.

I've got the 265/75 Duratracs which are 6 ply. If there is one common complaint I've read about the Duratracs is that the sidewalls are too soft. I friend of mine bought 31"s and he had the same complaint. He was complaining about cornering at higher speeds and I told him its a Nissan Hardbody 4x with 31's, its not intended to race around corners:lookout:

My buddy has the 10 ply Kevlars on his Jeep and at 8psi they don't even bulge...maybe that's just the kevlars...
I just feel a 10 ply sidewall wouldnt flex half as well as a 3 ply, and on rocks, you rely on sidewall flex

285s will rub if you're not lifted, Mine rubbed at full turn on the upper control arms even with a 3 inch lift, wheel spacers talk care of it

Actually it's the lift that brings them closer to the UCA...if you were stock height they'd fit the UCA's just fine...but they wouldn't fit the fenders.
The best way to remedy this is to just get a set of wheels with a lower offset, i.e. Land Cruiser wheels if you want to stay OEM, or some Cragar soft 8's with 4.5" backspacing would do the trick.
I've never been a wheel spacer fan, but I love my wheels wayyyy too much :naughty:

Well here it is without the running boards......what do you guys think?

that looks really good 05 LTD!! I like that color cuz you don't see many around. You should post a picture of the runner form the front and rear to show how wide the tires stick out!

How much did the spidertrax and the duratracs cost you in all? thats what i'd like to do to my rig.

EDIT: my bad didn't even look at the second page til after i posted this, how much was your lift?

Looks better.

Have you considered bringing the front end up some with some TO spacers? Just thought I would throw that out there.

The lift ran me around $750.

I probably wont use a top out spacer. I guess I'm one of the few who like the rear to be higher than the front. Right now it sits level so I want to add trim packers to the rear. I just dont have the cash right now to re-do the rear lift. I still have the valve cover gaskets to do and the dealer wants quite a bit.

Quick question for you guys.........suppose I DID use the TO spacers up front, what else can I use in the rear besides the OME trim packers? I've seen in a few people's sig the they are using OME rear coils WITH spacers. Is that safe to do?

Any suggestions? Cornfed? The ones toytec sell?

Unfortunately I have to stay as cheap as possible....thats why I was thinking spacers. The chances of me carrying additional weight and/or towing are far greater than needing flex offroad, thats why I went with the 891's.

I also dont have the tools or knowledge to do the lift myself so I will also have to pay for that.....plus a list of other things I need done.
