Installed 3" Toytec lift but now........

The truck sits uneven? The drivers side sits lower than the passenger side. The front drivers side sits a 1/4 lower and the rear is about a 1/2 lower......WTF?

I installed the toytec lift:
Rear: OME 890 coils
Font: 2.5 inch lift spacer with top plate and Bilstein 5100s

Does anyone know if 285/70/17 will rub with my running boards (and yes I am keeping them on).

I'm going to go ahead and say there is a good chance 285's will rub your running boards. I may be wrong but have a pretty good felling they would. I know you want your running boards but if you ditch them you'll look like you sit higher :-)

Difference is minor IMO. I have no answers about tires because I don't have running boards. Other than the running boards they should clear, but probably won't have much room for articulation. The stickys might have some tire info in them.

Nope your good , no rub on the boards , limited with 285 duratracs and have always kept my running boards on even after smashing one on a rock and then replacing it .

Your truck looks awesome! I was wanting a lift and wanted to keep my boards too, you just sold me on what I want to do

The 890's are marked A and B. Did you put the A spring on the drivers side?

I do not believe this is true, anymore. Both of mine shared the same part number with no discernible difference between the 2.

OP, did you put any type of trim packer on the front or rear drivers side?

I did not do the install. Someone who that does all my work did it. I'll ask him if they were different?

No trim packer, what are they and how do they work? Is this a common issue?

Trim packers go between the spring and collar on the shock to compensate for the extra weight the drivers side sees.

I just installed my Toytec ultimate lift about 3 weeks ago with OME 890's. There should have been an A/B spring. The install directions that came with the lift notated which one goes on which side.

There definitely is a difference between the driver and passenger side springs. The drivers side is a little bit longer to compensate for the additional weight on that side of the truck. When you add your body weight plus that of the gas tank and gas it adds up and the longer spring compensates for it.

As already stated, I did not have any rubbing problems when upgrading to a 285/70/17 on a 17" wheel. I did however have some slight rubbing on both frame rails and the end of my limited wheel flares (ends closest to the cab) after installed 1.25" wheel spacers.

Might need to have him swap the rear coils to get the rear leveled out. Also, I would put some miles on it & cross some RR tracks a couple of times...give the rear a chance to settle a bit. My rear coils looked crazy when I first put them in...but with a little riding they settled in nicely. Just my .02...

Might also call Toytec & ask them if the current 890 coils are side-specific?

As said, the A coil goes on the drivers side. The rear coils should have had tags on them. Climb under and take a look ( block wheels, parking brake on and in gear so the rig can't roll). While under there, check (by looking and feeling) that the tops of the rear coils are sitting flat on the upper coil bucket. There is an indentation that centers the coils. If the coil shifted (which can easily happen) when they lifted the axle back up it will not sit flush. There should be no gap. Also check that the bottom of the rear coils and sitting properly in the notches.

If the rear coil is not properly seated, it can give you this difference in measurements.

Okay, I'll Toytec to see if the coils are marked, so I can tell the difference.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

There definitely wasn't a difference in either the 881 and 890 springs I ordered from ToyTec earlier this year. Both respective springs had the same part number (verified by the white sticker listing the part number on each one) and were the same length. I made it a point to make sure because of the A/B difference. The front struts were shipped with 1, 5mm trim packer to be installed on the drivers side.
