Just had an aux input with iPhone adapter installed on my '03 JBL 10 speaker system at Best Buy. The sound sux!! Unacceptable to me. Stereo sound is bad (not good separation) and volume is low. Know I must turn my iPhone up to max for headphone plug, but still not enough. Is there a quality difference in these adapters? I know with the JBL it's all or nothing with the head unit, amplifier, and 10 speakers. Or is there a replacement head unit? What are my options? I don't want to pay huge $. Please help.
Installed aux input from Best Buy sounds like crap!

Best option without replacing all that is a USA Spec device. You should check crutchfield and others. They run about $120 - $169 depending on which model you go with. I think currently they have PA15TOY and PA20TOY out right now for our 4Runners. Best sound quality that will work with your JBL and amp. There are a couple of threads that talk about it.
I have a PA12TOY that I just replaced because I got a new h/u that integrates all of them. I used my USA Spec to integrate my iPhone and Sirius radio. I'm selling mine BTW. :bluejump:

Like I said, get a good quality adapter and a good quality installer. or DIY!
The installer guy seemed to know what he was doing. I paid $65 for part and $50 for installation, so probably POS. Does your aux sound as good as cd quality? Thanks a ton!
