installed new brake controller - now light always on

I just paid a local hitch center to install a curt reflex and a curt wiring harness for my truck. I bought the truck used, so the wiring harness that was supposed to be in the glove compartment is not there.

I have a 2008 with the tow package. So most wiring is there and ready I assumed.

After the install, the "Engine immobilizer/theft deterrent system
indicator light" is blinking.

Did these guys cut some corner? Or is this normal?

Also, why did toyota put the trailer connector so far from the hitch?

I just wired up my own controller. There is a factory 5-pin plug just above the dead pedal. Mine was stuffed up and in the wire loom but I did find it after a few minutes of digging.

I posted a thread asking why there were 5 wires however after all was said and done I used only 4 of the wires. The thread I posted is in this section somewhere.

With the tow package, the truck is already fully wired to accept a brake controller so I'm not sure what your installers wired into in order to set off the anti-theft. I did not experience anything like that.

If you'd like, I can grab a few pics of my install for you to reference but just know that it might be a few days since I don't log in every day.
