Installed tube Steps today

Got the tube steps this afternoon and installed them this evening. Installation was easy, had a buddy help me. Took us a little longer than the 1/2 hour it seems to have taken everyone else (maybe an hour and a half total?), but I attribute some of that to the extreme cold we were working in tonight. All things considered, a pretty simple installation.

I'm very happy with how they look on my '04 Sport. Finally found something suitable to replace those ugly-looking plain black running boards. I will post some pics as soon as I get her all cleaned up, it just snowed here yesterday, and she's pretty dirty as a result. I will say this though: it looks pretty sweet, the steel tube steps really accent the rest of the silver trimming on my Stratosphere Mica (aka blue) 4Runner Sport; I really like the whole blue/silver thing it has going on now.
 
Received my stainless steel tube steps today.
I like everything except the tape which is on each step.
Tape appears to look like carbon fiber w/ the name "Outback" in a shiney chrome lettering...Looks a little cheesy to me.
Under the tape are to small holes.....
I'm thinking about pulling the tape off and replacing the area with something else ?
Even small stainless screws to plug the holes would look better IMO...
Anyone else ???

I noticed same thing. I'm thinking of replace it with something else. Courtesy Toyota has their logo sticker almost the same size but longer. I'll ask for couple of them and cut it in half. TOYOTA letters will be on my tube step in stead of BACK COUNTRY.:D
 
Keep me posted with pics! I don't mind the "back country", but if I could replace or remove it I would.

I just got my bars installed this weekend......looks great IMO...I will try to get some pics up if it is not too dark when I get home.

Despite looking great, I am torn on the "Back Country" logo on the bars.
 
Glad you like the way they look. You probably won't notice they even say anything after awhile. I would prefer stainless steel or black, I havn't looked into either yet, too much going on right now.

Nope...I went stainless.

I will try and get some pics soon.

Also want to point out, eventhough the bars are stainless, the mounting brackets are not...they are just painted. Kind of dumb....brackets will rust, but not the tubes...so what good is that?

How do the tube steps compare to the running boards as far as the whole 'bumping your leg on them when you get in' thing?
 
hmm i cant seem to find these anywhere. Does anyone know where i can purchase stainless tube steps? It doesnt have to be from back country. Im just looking for an affordable quality made tube step.
 
There are some on E-bay listed by AutoDNA for $129.99. Don't know anything about the quality of these though. Tried to paste a link but it didn't work right.
 
I just ordered the Stainless Nerf bars from AutoDNA on Ebay. Price was 129.99 plus shipping. These are the Back Country nerf bars. When I receive the shipment and install, I will provide feedback and pics. I can say so far that I am impressed with AutoDNA's customer service since I have emailed them twice with some questions and they got back to me with helpfull answers quite quickly.
