Installed tube Steps today

I received the tube steps from AutoDNA and they were not what I thought they would be. From the pictures, it looked like they were the Back Country product. Instead they are made by Landmaster and are the kind that are bolted to the body mounts and not the existing holes that are used for the stock running boards. Additionally, these stainless bars were shipped with the wrong bag of bolts that do not fit the ends of the bars. I was told by the manufacturer to go to Home Depot and pick up 4 correct bolts. Easy to do, but I shouldn't have to.

I am trying to get AutoDNA to issue a return but they are not being responsive. I may just sell them cheap just to unload them instead of going through the hassle.

I'm going to order the Back Country from a reputable online dealer. Yes, I will pay much more but I guess you get what you pay for. EBay is a good source for bargains but in my case, the product was misrepresented and I would have been better off paying the $350 initially to avoid all this trouble.

How do the tube steps compare to the running boards as far as the whole 'bumping your leg on them when you get in' thing?

If you are "bumping" your leg on them then I'd figure they wouldn't be of any use since I thought they were for stepping on to get in.
I think the steps are silly on a truck that barely has the height required for them. Lifted maybe,stock they seem more for looks or very short people.

I think maybe they should be called "Mother-In-Law" steps instead of side steps or tube steps...I took my stock boards off - liked the look, but then I started to hear about it from my wife and her mother...which got me thinking that probably a guy can get in no problem, but the ladies perhaps not - so I started looking for some aftermarket ones, and then I saw the Manik bars - ultimately I went with them not because I feel bad for my mother in law, but because they do look good...which speaks to your point, they're probably on there for looks really - at least mine are.

Your dog can get into the passenger seat without running boards. Tell your mother-in-law that if she can't get in the front, you'll give her a boost into the cargo area. The passenger seat is taken by FIDO now. FIDO doesn't complain.

I would rather she sat in the cargo area, but with the drop-down window and free roam of the entire back space, Annie (my dog) would kick her a*& if she tried to sit back there...
