Want to install air con in a 94 2.8lt diesel. Does anyone know what other engines have the same unit? I can't seem to find one for my model.
If anyone has install a new one would love to hear you experiences with it.

Just to clarify this 4r has never had one installed

A/C was a dealer installed option so the power plugs are already wired in the harness. Check http://www.ackits.com They sell retrofit kits that look exactly like original equipment, with dash switch etc. They will send you an installation PDF prior to purchase. Maybe you can use that to piece together junk yard parts. Their price new is about $850. About what it cost back when car was new. Of course it uses the newer coolant. I'm not sure what they can do for a diesal truck but it wouldn't hurt to ask. I don't have A/C in my '89 but it's not a dd so I guess it just won't go anywhere on the really hot days. If you do work up a solution, an installation thread here with photos would probably be appreciated.

wiring help!!

Well I finally decided to get a ac kit from the local wreckers. It all looks good and have shown it to some ac installers and they say it all looks pretty good too.

I'm just having some problems trying to work out how to connect it up in regards to the wiring. There is a plug that comes out of the compressor and splits to some sort of pump mechanism and a another plug. I found a spare connection near the battery which would reach but its the wrong size, and i'm not really sure if it is actually for the ac. The pump mech I have hardly an idea where that is to go something to do with the idler??

The next connection is on the evaporator behind the glove box. only found one connecter near the plug on the evaporator and doesn't fit.

I hope my problem is easy to understand I attached some photos to help visually.

Cheers

pics in order
