Installing Autopage Remote Starter/Alarm.

Having the Autopage RS-1000 OLED 2-way alarm/remote starter put on my 2007 4Runner next week. I was going to get the Viper 5900 but I hear battery life on the Viper remote is horrid; like 3 days. The Autopage system has a fob that has an LCD display much like a simple LCD Tv. It animates each feature, zooms up to show you what it is controlling and zooms back out. I'm also have them put on a perimeter sensor, window mods to allow ALL windows up at ARM and the option to roll them all down on a hot day at DISARM. Also adding the pressure sensor/glass breakage. Now I can monitor and start my vehicle from that hotel room that has no view of my vehicle and never have to worry. It will especially come in handy for those snowy nights it sits in the parking lot at the hotel and I can melt all the snow/ice on the windshield before I even get to it.

For those that have the Autopage or any other aftermarket starter/alarm, are there any known issues I need to have my installer pay attention to?

I had the autopage when it first came out. It had beeper that you carried around on your belt like a regular beeper. It paid off, some one broke into my car in the middle of the night and it paged me. I ran outside and chased them into the woods, but they did get away. Nothing was taken just a broken window and some damage to the stereo.

The new style looks nice, if you don't mind me asking what are they charging for the install and alarm? My wife wants a remote starter in our 07 4runner.

I just had mine installed. I'm still learning all the features. I had a perimeter sensor put on mine so I get paged BEFORE they break in. The zone around the car is like 6'!! It just chirps at the passerbys but little do they know it alerts me of their presence. Makes it perfect for those nights I'm at a hotel and I can't see my car!

So far I love the alarm and it's range. I love how the screen confirms that the car has started or that the doors have locked. It's pretty cool. Certainly the best alarm I've ever had. This is my second Autopage. The first one I owned was WAYY back in 1993 when the pager was first available. lol

I just had mine installed.

I want the same alarm/remote start installed. Can you give an update of exactly what the remote does (eveything the Stock Toyota remote did??, what more/less?)...

Also, if you dont mind, how much did it cost to get installed? did you have to lose a key b/c of the chip?

i dont know who is telling you the viper / python units eat batteries in 3 days lol.

I have the python version and it works awesome

I change my batteries monthly, but i dont let them drain down that much.


scott3710, a basic one way remote starter will prob run you a little bit less than $300 for your 07 4runner you will need:
unit
install
bypass
bypass install

an alarm will run more...call some local shops, everyone prices differently.
