Installing center video display help

Techno pros,

I've installed a Scion HU with DVD capabilities and have the audio/video cables all the way to the driver's passanger door. I don't know how to best run the cables under the headliner and mount the video display.

Should I remover the headliner (shudder) to do this or should I fish the cables through to the dome light.

If I fish the cables how do I mount the video display?

Thanks for any help!

BTW - I'm in Germany and can't just get a pro to do it for me.

Has anyone removed the headliner?

It is an enormous pain in the A$$ to remove the headliner. Of course, it may be a different ballgame depending on your options. I have a sunroof, and the side curtain airbags. ALL the trim basically has to come out to get the headliner out so be prepared. Probably have to replace some clips in the process (or maybe it was just me :().

I ran all the wires to do an overhead monitor, then backed out and pulled it all out. You've really gotta watch it with the sunroof motion, and where the wires are run, as well as making sure the bolts used don't interfere with it either (I was going to use rivets). I didn't like how the wires caused the headliner to bulge a bit. It is very close tolerance up there.

I wanted a bigger OH monitor, but I guess I'll be just as happy with my headrest monitors. Oh well.

Make sure you have two people doing this otherwise it may get away from you and could get damaged.

Best of luck. Take pics while doing. I took some pics - I'll see if I can find them.

I installed a overhead monitor without removing the headliner. I ran all the wires on the pass. side then up the B piller to the dome light. I did remove all the trim on the pass. side. I removed the dome light and mounted the new monitor/dvd player w/dome lights. There is enough room under the headliner for all the cables. You just have to make sure the wires do not interfere with the sunroof headliner panel. The dome light is mounted to a double walled piece of steel. I was able to just line up the new monitor with the old dome light and screw it to the bracket. Any other installation question let me know. ERIK
