Installing Day Star spacers

I just got a Day Star 2.5" Spacer kit and I'm afraid to install it myself, not experience on them at all and don't want to risk installing them myself and was wondering if anyone knows of a shop in southern california in my area were I could get these installed and what it would run me. Or if anyone in my area would be willing to help me with these? I'm planning on getting my new tires within the next week, waiting for costco to call me and let me know when they arrive.

this is a pretty straight forward and simple job, i'm not going to tell you to do it yourself, you need to make that call as no one on here can tell you how handy you are with tools and such, you have to make that call.

with that said you looking at about $150-$200 to get them put on from a shop with a charging $50-80 shop time and taxes, so yeah not really worth it imo, with that said your best bet is to offer up some beer or lunch and get one of these guys to come over and show you how todo it that way you will learn and get better with your tools and get the confidence to do things like this on your own in the future, seriously things like this and brakes and ect isn't rocket science, why do you think you always see 16-20 year kids working in these places all of the time, you know they didn't go to school or anything for brake repair and such, trust me when i say you can do this, but it would be better and easier with some guidance.


so i guess the question is now, who is so-cal want to help this guy out!?!?!

come 'on guys let's get another wrench monkey in the fold!!!!!

haha I like the way you think! Beer and food provided to anyone who can help me with this in socal! :) It would be awesome to learn something new, most i've done myself so far was change radio antenna, all light bulbs, and cold air intake.
 
I'd be willing to help but I'm a good 2 hours away, 3-4 with traffic. I would go to a shop to have the springs compressed and have the spacers installed into the strut assembly before you do anything yourself. That is the worst part of the job, it's a little dangerous, and if you do it yourself you'll need to buy or rent spring tensioners and they can be sketchy. With the fronts pre-assembled, the job will only take about 3-4 hours or so (front and back).
 
I think I'm going to a shop tomorrow to get it installed there probably going to charge me $200-300 to do it.

Seriously, he has a point. If you are gonna drop that much money, might as well have it done better

Trust me, I have done the spacers before and it will end up costing you less to just do an OME or Toytec lift kit with the full struts the first time.

I have heard of very few people get a spacer and keep it that way long term.

but, to each his own! whatever you do, take pics and let us see the before and after! :trophy:
 
if you wait till june i'll be driving through so-cal i'll come by and help for a night on the couch, lol

seriously,save the money and get some coils and struts or those leds you like, go to the local section of the forum i'm sure you can find a 2nd gen or 4th gen guy to come by and help.
 
it's actually in the shop now and getting it installed for free! my friend's dad owns a tire shop and has experience installing lifts and suspensions :) Will post the before and after pics after its done around 4-5 pm socal time. then will post pics once I get my 33's BFG KO's :)
 
so the lift is done! but the tires aren't on because costco wouldn't install them...I'll post before and after pics with new tires but does anyone know how much it costs to install and balance 4 tires? like what the going rate is? I was pissed when they said they wouldn't install them, they didn't even bother to mention that when I purchased them! I bought 33x10.50R15 using the 2.5 Day Stars. please give me some info the tires are just sitting in my garage for now lol.
 
Why wouldn't they install them? Just because they are bigger than stock?

I would just call around to some shops and find one that will do it.

yeah and about how their policy prevents though from doing that lol. so I took it to my local pep boys and there doing it as we speak. I'll post pictures and stuff in about 2 hours.
