Installing Homelink, autodim and compass mirror

I'm getting ready to install a Homelink with compass and autodim mirror. Does anybody have a picture of the T4R fuse box that would show where I can tap in for always on 12v and only on with ignition 12v circuits? I would really appreciate the help.

OK, so I figured out where to tap in with the wires.

I still have one question though; what is the best way to tap into with the wires for this mirror. Right now I just have the wires held in place by the fuse itself. Should I get like a fuse piggy back kind of device like I saw somebody here use or just slice into the wires behind the fuse box. I want to make this look professional and safe. Any help would be appreciated.

My suggestion is to get some T-taps and go directly to the ignition harness.... I've had a problem finding them in hardware stores around here, but luckily I work at an audio shop so I have full supply. The reason I say go to the ignition harness is because if you are tapping onto existing fused power, you could possibly be putting that device at risk. Going to the ignition harness, tapping onto it, and fusing it there is just like adding an additional fuse box to your vehicle. You can also do some damage if you pull the wrong fuse...ex the air bag fuse... just my 2 cents.

And just incase you are wondering...

12 V constant = white/blue
12 V switch = white/green

here is a picture of the t-tap I would suggest....it is the

3M Scotchlok T-Tap Connector

Also this picture shows a blue on, but in my shop we have red, blue, and yellow. Red is for wires ranging from 16 ga - 18 ga, blue 14-16, and the yellow are used for 12-14. If you find a place that sells them you'll want to get the 953 model.... for 3m they are 951, 952, and 953... 953 is what I have in yellow.

I do have a couple of those t-taps (red) but I still don't know where to tap into. I really don't want to mess with ignition wires. I was thinking the fuse box because I want the mirror to be protected by a fuse. Has anybody done something like that before?

You can still add a fuse regardless of going to the fuse box. You t-tap onto the ignition wire and then use 2 female quick connects to put a fuse in line with the wire. Here is a drawing...

Hm, that looks pretty good. Where exactly do I tap into the ignition wire?

Well really you shouldn't tap onto the ignition wire... I was just using that as an example of switched power. If you want switched power you should really tap onto accessory but it is in the ignition harness. Look for a bundle of about 5-6 10-12 ga wires leading up through the steering column. You can find them behind the fuse box as well. The accessory wire color is white/green. Ignition is black/red, 12V constant is white/blue and red... need any other colors let me know.
